The NES version of Metal Gear. It differs from the original MSX2 release in level layout and enemy differences, including an alternative final boss. The game revolves around Solid Snake, an operative of the special forces unit FOXHOUND, who goes on a solo infiltration mission into the fortified state of Outer Heaven to destroy "Metal Gear", a bipedal walking tank capable of launching nuclear missiles from anywhere in the world, as well as rescue a number of fellow agents who have been captured by the enemy. This version was later released inside the Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - Special Disc, along with other extras.

I FELL ASLEEP! The almost perfect stealth concept in the original Metal Gear developed for the MSX2 computers was reworked and destroyed in the NES port. I now understand why Hideo Kojima said that the Famicom version of the game is not about stealth at all, because it is broken here, and when you give me a gun, the game turns into a regular shooter of those years. The game is too chaotic, I just don't understand when I'll be noticed, and the main problem is that now the opponents look not along the line, but along the radius. Sometimes I go into a room full of guards, and they immediately notice me, even if none of them were looking in my direction. Fortunately, they immediately forget about me if you go to the next screen. Sometimes the enemies are now positioned in such a way that when leaving a room or a truck, they look towards the player and immediately sound the alarm, which completely contradicts the idea of stealth. In general, the game has a lot of basic problems, and it is not clear whether it was laziness to correctly place the enemies, or no one understood the concept of the game and decided to leave it as is. Also, due to the fact that additional trucks were added that allow you to teleport directly to the entrance of Building 3, there is no longer a need to take the compass from Jennifer. It's not bad that some puzzles can now be skipped. Let's just assume that now there is a shortcut in the game for attentive players. I don't want to recommend this version, it's better to play on MSX. The original is better in everything, not to mention that this version lacks entire locations and a boss helicopter.

Играть в это в 2024 тяжело. Ещё тяжелее делать это без сейвстейтов. Ребят, реально, скачайте эмуль MSX2 вместо прохождения этого на консолях. Сэкономите ТОННУ времени. А вообще для чуть ли не первого стелс-экшна зачётная игрушка.

Great start to the series. My brother had played this as a kid and so I have him to thank for getting me into the series. He stuck with it til Metal Gear Solid 2.

Прошел до конца:✔️ Полный разьеб от дядюшки Хидео Кодзимы, жалко что иногда тебе в рот дают и ты без журнала не разберешься что дальше делать, а так класс.

I played the version that was included in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. This version added a few things and retranslated the entire game. This game was a surprise with how good it was overall. The gameplay was fast and fun while exploring the levels was engaging. The level design and the way things looped around was reminiscent of some modern day games. There were a few parts that had me stuck, due to some very obscure hints, which made me resort to using a guide on a few occasions. It was great seeing where this series came from, and I can see how the formula evolved in future installments.
