Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final canonical Metal Gear game to feature Solid Snake as the main character. The gameplay of the previous games have been kept along with some new features, such as the ability to roll on your back and also to hide in bins scattered around the environment. Most of the story and the relationship between the characters are explained through cut-scenes with a considerable length, so knowledge of the prior games is recommended to fully understand the story. The game also features a complex multiplayer mode entitled Metal Gear Online with some original missions based on the stealth aspects of the single-player games.

So I'm ranking this a 3 mainly because there's less gameplay than in other titles, and the game feels mostly like watching a movie (with the ending cutscene being an hour and a half long)
MY #1 FAVORITE MGS GAME EVER! It had everything I could've wanted in a game. I'm a huge story lover so I enjoyed the long cutscenes and the game played really well. I love how we got to see really vulnerable sides of Snake, Raiden, Naomi, and others. The addition to the IPOD was one of my fav and playing the JPOP song and Calling to the night was a banger! The ending felt fulfilling and amazing. My only complaints was I wish we got more codec calls, more easter eggs, and would've loved playing as Raiden (even if it was just one fight). Overall, my FAVORITE MGS game and this game has made the list to one of my favorite games of all time!

Достойное завершение всей сюжетной линии Снейка и Патриотов. Все сюжетные ниточки с 1964 до 2014 сплетаются воедино и создают единое полотно, где встречаются герои с абсолютно разных временных эпох. Кодзима показал, что может сделать цельную историю, в которой все события встают на свои места, нагнать драмы и заставить игроков смотреть игрофильм по своей вселенной, сопереживая героям этой грандиозной драмы.
Минусы этой игры заключаются в том, что в ней слишком мало геймплея. Я предполагаю, если быстро скипать все катсцены и знать, куда идти, то вся игра пройдётся часа за два с половиной. Баланс между историей и геймплеем в этой части слишком сильно переваливается на левую чашу весов, и поэтому я не могу поставить её выше в моём личном рейтинге.
