On the planet Dahna, reverence has always been given to Rena--the planet in the sky--as a land of the righteous and divine. Stories handed down for generations became truth and masked reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom. Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future. Featuring a diverse cast of characters, intuitive and rewarding combat system, and a captivating story set in a lush world worth fighting for, Tales of Arise delivers a first-class JRPG experience.

For almost 25 years of the franchise, the Tales series has been one of the most conservative in the genre. You always know what to expect from the game: a plot that does not immediately grab you, a team of characters from different factions, most often opposing, and an interesting combat system that often evolves from game to game. In terms of plot, the game has gone further than its predecessors, and this is an absolute plus. The clash of two different worlds: the super-developed civilization of Rena, and the technically underdeveloped Dahna, but ecologically clean and filled with magical energy. The invaders won the war and made slaves out of the losers, who have been serving their masters for 300 years. The plot raises such important questions about the correctness of waging war, about the sacrifices that can be made. About the fact that sometimes the actions of revolutionaries are no better for the people, and even worse than the behavior of tyrants. The interaction of characters in mini-scenes has also changed a little. While other games in the series had a large number of humorous scenes, now their total number has decreased. In my opinion, this is a big omission, since such scenes contrasted very strongly with the usually serious plots and helped to distract for a while. The combat system has been simplified a bit compared to the previous game Tales of Berseria. Now instead of 16 combat moves that can be assigned to buttons, there are 12, and regular attacks have been added, which has a noticeable effect on variety. Each character has become more unique, and performs its task in combat: someone breaks shields, someone ties up fast opponents, and someone makes counterattacks. The transition to Unreal Engine 4 has been a good thing for the game, and the game looks stunning visually. The game is a great entry point into the Tales series, as well as for long-time fans.

I loved playing through Tales of Arise. My biggest complaint is that the story in the beginning was pretty slow but once you get through about 70% of the game, it kind of feels like the last 30% of the game is actually 60% of the game. Overall still really enjoyed it.

TALES OF ARISE 78 "Tales of cliches" GRAFICA:8 1/2 SONORO:7 GIOCABILITA':8 1/2 LONGEVITA':8 TRAMA:6 1/2 ATMOSFERA:6 1/2 +Bello artisticamente +CS molto ispirato +La storia regge per varie ore...

Not as good as some of the other tales games tbh, something about this one feels rushed, stuck with it but was left wanting more from this lacklustre title (Trophies Earned 48/48)

I loved this Tales game overall, but there were many gameplay aspects I was not thrilled about, mostly the lack of money from battles. It was an easy game to platinum as well. Currently planning to make my way through the DLC.

Yet another Bandai Namco action RPG completed, but this time - a game from long-established franshise. And as Tales being my first entry in it, I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Although, yet again, not as much as I wanted. But still. Visuals with world design are pretty solid, characters with their development arcs are fun to follow and story has it's hook for sure. Combine this with bland and boring combat, leading to, probably ABSOLUTE FUCKING WORST boss-fight sequence in gaming history and you got Tales of Arise.
