Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a refreshing throwback to the side scrollers of old, enchanced through gorgeous hand drawn artwork, a good variety of levels, indepth combat, memorable boss encounters, and challenging platforming sections.
Rudimentary at first, the game blossoms with each new skill acquired, evolving and growing to extend its reach, expecting the player to rise up to meet and surpass the challenges on offer. I haven't faced such fiendishly difficult platforming in some time, the demand for pixel perfect execution pallpable as one wrong move or mis-step can spell disaster. The elation of besting such sections though (some of which are entirely optional), is incredibly gratifying once surpassed.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance joins Streets of Rage 4, as another brilliant example of developer Lizardcube's ability, to use modern game design, to enchance the old school classics of the 16-bit era.

Joguei muito na minha infância o Shinobi 2, e o novo jogo inteiro me transportou para o passado com uma dose enorme de evolução!!

I don't usually play or even like metroidvanias, but this one is good. I wish they can revive the Shinobi series again, make it like Ninja Gaiden or DMC. That would very cool. Still very decent game.
