In Dungeon Dice monsters, there is a tiled board of 13 x 19 tiles (13 tiles wide) on which play is conducted. On either end of the board sits a "Monster Lord" (on the 7th tile from each side on the row closest to the players) representing either player. Each Monster Lord has 3 Life Points. The first player to lose all their Life Points loses. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime, these were referred to as "Heart Points".

The game's intro is stylish! The game is pretty faithful to the spin-off's rules. The strategy that works well is to use dice with lots of summon stars, which gives you a better chance of summoning monsters, thus allowing you to advance quickly, dominate the field, and defeat the enemy faster. The single-player mode consists of five tournaments to win to unlock a sixth: the legendary "World Championship." Characters defeated during a tournament can be challenged again in the free duel mode. The game's biggest drawback is that there's no tutorial at all, so if you don't have the game manual, you'll learn the hard way. But I had already finished the game a long time ago, so I know how it works. You earn a new dice with each victory, but you can also buy them in the shop. Between each duel, you can swap the dice in your deck to change your strategy or add a new one as soon as you get it. The 3D animations of the attacking monsters are cool! The music isn't great... Even though luck can be on your side, the turns are very fast, and there's a tactical RPG aspect that makes the game really good. It's a shame there aren't really any obstacles on the field because you just have to summon lots of small monsters and block your opponent to prevent them from summoning monsters, and so you inevitably win in the long run... especially since the AI isn't designed to combat this strategy. There should be a timer to prevent some matches from lasting too long. Overall, it's a really nice little game, even though it came out of nowhere, I really like it. The game is a bit short but there's a fair amount of replay value if you like the concept.
