DMC sorely needed an update after the other games and this was such a welcome breath of fresh air. You also get to play as a new character, Nero, and whilst he isn't Dante he has some cool things that he grows into his own throughout the story. This game is bastard hard to platinum. S ranking all the levels are okay as long as you get rid of enemies fast and stylish whilst also collecting orbs. Bloody palace is a nightmare for platinum. Don't bother unless you are good enough. I've spent well over an hour and a half on one bloody palace run alone.

This game is fun, entertaining, and introduces Nero - the Best Boy in all of DMC. Repeat levels are of course a bummer but the game makes it work. Makes me glad I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition for my 360 way back when (it came with a steelbook and a beanie!). Though if you play it on PC, you may have to spend some time troubleshooting crash-to-desktop issues! Thanks, Capcom!

Está interesante el nuevo personaje que incorporan a la saga. En tema BSO sigue siendo una locura, y visualmente está bastante bien. En tema historia está interesante lo que te cuentan, aunque los DLCs, que deberían ser historias nuevas ya que juegas con otros personajes, no te añaden nada de historia, es volver a jugarte todo el juego con los demás personajes de la saga, cada uno con sus movimientos característicos. En tema gameplay, tiene momentos que la cámara se vuelve loca y combates que son complicados porque sí, pero en general es fluido y cada personaje tiene su set diferenciador, lo que hace que según el pj que lleves te pueda costar más o menos un mismo boss. En definitiva, está interesante el juego, pero no vale la pena jugarte las historias extra ya que solo es jugarte el juego con otros pjs, sin añadir nada nuevo.

Devil May cry 4 è stata un'esperienza interessante nella prima metà dell'opera, appena si entra nella seconda si colpisce un muro di monotonia con qualche dettaglio di level design pessimo. L'introduzione di qualche faccia nuova è stato un tentativo di aria fresca, e ha funzionato in parte, ma la giocata di usare dante che non fa nulla di speciale mi ha reso veramente difficile mantenere un certo livello di interesse, anche perché le missioni con dante erano principalmente riciclo di ambientazioni e asset di dmc3 con l'unica aggiunta di cambiare stile in tempo reale, cambiamento che si apprezza. Gli altri personaggi, tra cui secondari e antagonisti non avevano niente di unico, eccetto il doppiatore che balbetta, in aggiunta alla terribile decisione di riprenderli solamente nella tarda seconda parte della narrativa. E poi questo Dante non mi è piaciuto, rispetto a quello di dmc3, soprattutto perché la sua presenza sembrava per la maggior parte del tempo quasi ingiustificata. Il gameplay è nel mezzo di nuovo e vecchio, hai un intero personaggio nella metaprogressione e un "Copy and paste" del tuo amato Dante di dmc3 (non si sono nemmeno scomodati ad aggiungere la descrizione delle mosse), con qualche livello estremamente confusionario oppure con qualche area piena di mob con dei pattern molto discutibili. Nell'insieme ritengo questo titolo un piccolo passo indietro rispetto a dmc3, sia a livello narrativo sia a livello tecnico e di design, soprattutto a causa della parte con dante che mi ricordava il trailer di Persona 4 Revival: raggiungi destinazione (cammina), destinazione raggiunta, dante procede col suo tipico discorso provocatorio, combatti lo stesso boss che hai già fatto, raggiungi destinazione.

I don't recall too many issues with this game. I do recall the complaint about doing the levels in reverse which was a little lame, but story and gameplay was good.

It's been around 15 years since I played the original version of this game on my cousin's Xbox 360 and I did finish it from what I remember. My opinion of it hasn't changed much either. I still think it was fun, but the story doesn't really stick that much with me just like before. Dante's scene at the fire demon's gate is still my favorite scene in this game and will continue to live rent free in my mind. Nero is actually really fun to play as and a good protagonist. JYB kills at, as ususal, as his voice actor. The "exceed" mechanic is fun but hard to master, and I do like that Nero's combos are more input-delay based than Dante's. My initial impression of his play style wasn't a bit like-warm but I got used to it after a while, but then Dante came back and I just wanted to stick with him for the rest of the game. It's great to see Lady and Trish come back even if they don't get much to do. The graphics have aged well due to the style and aesthetic with the anime-esque designs. Everything also just upscales much better to modern standards than the original trilogy. My criticisms of this game mainly come from the repeated levels once you play as Dante (you just do everything again except backwards), and the weak story and characters. Kyrie is nothing but a damsel in distress, and both protagonist's campaigns have really simple objectives. This game also objectively has the worst chapter and boss in all of the games so far, and I'm currently at least a quarter through DMC 5 at the time of writing this. Chapter 19 sucks, and His Holyness (forgot his name already) is annoying. DMC2 was boring but at least the cheese made it bearable. Now to go on a tangent about these games in general. I like good and compelling stories. The design philosophy of this gameplay is to mix together as many different movies into a combo to raise your style ranking to get more points at the end of a level. I feel no incentive to do this at all and this has never mattered to me in games. Also, this game has done nothing to make me care since the story isn't very compelling. As a result, I don't bother to replay the entire game with any of the other bonus characters. Sorry Vergil fans but I just don't care to play the game again just for him. The only reason I did Lucia's campaign in DMC 2 was because there was more than just 2 unique cutscenes and the campaign was shorter. I am not going to do all 20 chapters again just for two cutscenes that don't do anything but imply who Nero's mother might be. I watched it on Youtube instead and moved on. That being said, I will be attempting to do the Vergil playthrough in DMC 5 since it is the last entry at the moment. Side note: I prefer the Bayonetta series. Lmao
