The game is awful, as a series that always thrive with great gameplay system, this one feel bad, very bad. Every character have limited amount of good abilities, offer almost no combos or anything interesting, a lot of attacks miss by design, which is crazy frustrating. The story start off really bad, but as it goes it save itself from the boring narrative of the first part of the game. The plot twist is controversial, but I actually like it. It actually fit the whole series and make the goal of the SO2 antagonist make more sense.

*Did not reach the credits* Knowing that Star Ocean is a 'sister' series to Tales of, I really wanted to like this game. However, unlike the Tales games I've played, this game ask you to grind either gear development or levels. I choose neither, because I believe strategy and being close to boss's levels should be enough for victory. I earnestly despised how this game ramped up towards the end, not in difficulty, but in just pure number increase. I think the story is fascinating, but it takes a while to really pick up and hit that point for me. *Requested by DisEviant*
