Fun little VR point and click, but I can't for the life of me understand why Double Fine decided to make it both VR only and important to the overall story of the series.
Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin has all the symptoms of being an older VR game. It uses head movement to control things other than the camera, it doesn't have any kind of height adjustment or differentiation between standing and sitting, and has no stick based camera control. Playing this game for extended periods can put strain on the players neck due to some of these issues. It's honestly relieving that this game was as short as it was.
Despite this, it's good, but not worth the asking price in my opinion. VR games have come a long way since 2017, and Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is largely a product of its time. Even more unfortunate then, is that Psychonauts 2 is a direct follow up to the events of this game, which take place directly after the original. Fans of Psychonauts who want to experience everything are forced to shell out for a VR headset, when this could be played entirely with a controller if telekinesis was changed just slightly.
Rhombus of Ruin has an interesting take on the old standard of teleport movement in VR, but not much else. It is fun to see these characters interact again though.

Great game but I thought it was a bit too short. It was made as a promotion for Psychonauts 2, but since you have to pay for it, I was a bit disappointed with how short it was. But the story, gameplay, visuals, and sound track are all as perfect as in the first game. This game acts as a continuation of the first game.

Completed on Stream.
Average VR game, I don't think it was needed at all.
