PSYCHONAUTS 6/7 "Mind games" GRAFICA:6 1/2 SONORO:8 GIOCABILITA':5 LONGEVITA':6 1/2 TRAMA:7 EMOZIONE:7 +Background appassionante +Sonoro molto positivo +Ironia a bizzeffe -Gameplay vecchio ai limiti della giocabilità -Tecnicamente arretrato -Controlli preistorici Psychonauts è un gioco sviluppato dai Double Fine di Tim Schafer nel lontano 2005 : giocarlo e recensirlo oggi significa doverlo contestualizzare al periodo di uscita ed è quello che farò in questa recensione. Allora il gioco è un platform 3D con elementi da action-adventure soprattutto dati dalla presenza massiccia di cut-scenes che vanno a formare una storia molto originale cosi come il contesto ed i suoi personaggi: siamo in un campo estivo per ragazzini con poteri psichici che studiano per diventare dei veri "agenti della mente" addestrati da degli improbabili quanto caratteristici professori . Inutile dire che le peripezie del protagonista Razputin si susseguono una dopo l'altra strappando spesso più di una risata e mettendo sempre il buon umore grazie ad una comicità ficcante ma intelligente che sfocia ,come tutte le altre opere del buon Schafer, spesso nel non-sense. Quindi abbiamo di fronte un background molto particolare capace di intattenere e far appassionare ai personaggi:purtroppo però lo scontro con il tempo Psychonauts non lo riesce proprio a vincere. Da giocare il gioco è vecchio. Sembra anche più vecchio degli anni che ha. I controlli sono lenti, imprecisi e tardivi, i menù di gioco non pervenuti ed il feeling coi comandi in generale scadente. Il gameplay di Psychonauts ad oggi è sicuramente il suo più grosso punto debole. Tecnicamente arretrato anche all'epoca, le texture viste oggi sono davvero eccessive e bruttine però l'originalissimo level-design e le ambientazioni colorate rendono l'esperienza visiva comunque piacevole; un'ottimo lavoro lo svolge invece il sonoro poichè le musiche sono interessanti ed i doppiaggi inglesi di altissimo livello. A causa di un gameplay ad oggi insufficiente,Psychonauts non è un titolo di grande qualità effettiva: però è un prodotto interessante e basilare per potersi gustare il secondo capitolo(attualmente in sviluppo la cui uscita è prevista entro la fine di quest'anno) che se sarà capace di dare un gameplay attuale e di livello a tutto questo beckground sarà sicuramente un titolo dalle grandi prospettive.

When I liked this game... I REALLY liked this game. When I didn't like this game... I REALLY DID NOT LIKE IT. It was wild experiencing this cult classic for the first time and having such highs and lows. I was thankful I played it on Twitch and had my chat to help me through the difficult or obtuse puzzles... otherwise I might have never made it through. And I almost threw my controller out the window on the last level 🤪 I did really enjoy the story and the silly dialogue though; and most of the characters were very entertaining. I'm curious to see if Psyconauts 2 has tighter gameplay and less bugs. I played the steam version of Psyconauts 1 and had a small amount of frustrating bugs.... and the game crashed during the last cutscene so I had to watch the ending on YouTube. >.<

Awesome game. One of the best from the early 2000's. Highly recommended. Some of the best writing you'll find in a video game from this era. Great controls, level design, sound design, platforming, menus, UI, voice acting. Everything is spot on.

Jogo de plataforma com quase 20 anos, imensa personalidade, arte diferente e ideias muito boas. A história é interessante e o humor "goofy" aplica-se que nem uma luva na temática do jogo. Alguns problemas de câmara e controlo mas nada muito frustrante.

This is one of those games if you grew up with you can't help but love it down to its core. From the dialogue to the character design everything is stylized to a charming degree and will forever be one of my favorites.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere! Every mind that you get to enter is a unique world, with its own theme and physics governing it. The characters in general are likable and interesting (somehow that's usually the case when it comes to non-horror games with asylums). The age of the game can be felt, however, and it'll probably be easier to play with a controller. On mouse and keyboard, the selection wheel is pretty tricky with the mouse, but managed to make due selecting the diagonals with the arrows just fine to be fair.

This game is fantastic. Such a beautiful looking, charming, stylish, fantastic story with great gameplay, funny characters and a brilliant soundtrack. One of my favourite games ever.
