After so many years, I finally played the first Final Fantasy. The game that started the golden age of RPGs. Not all games in the series were successful, but this is clearly not the case, because the game turned out to be very good. In 1987, Dungeon and Dragon had a very strong influence on the genre, and it is felt here too. Especially when it comes to the combat system. Even before all the MP that everyone knows, Final Fantasy 1 had a classic magic system - a limited number of uses of each type of spell, which is restored only after rest. The remaster of the game turned out great, especially the new updated music. I know that many will say that you need to play with the original music, because it is more authentic, but I have heard the original music more than once in Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, and I am hearing the updated music for the first time. Of the important features, the auto-battle function and disabling random battles on the world map have been added. Auto-battle is very useful when increasing levels on the world map, because most often the opponents do not cause problems, and you don’t really want to waste spells on them. In terms of the plot, unfortunately, there is nothing surprising here. The classic battle of the Warriors of Light with Evil, which can only be defeated by awakening 4 crystals of light. The plot was not spoiled, and thanks for that. It is very difficult to recommend the game to a modern player. Perhaps for a general introduction to how the Final Fantasy series began, or for a fan of classic RPGs.

I play a lot of final fantasy. But I have never beat the first 6 or so. Ive been playing them off an on, and have finally come to beat this game. The story was simple and worth the price of the remaster. Playing this now gives me context into the game stranger in paradise, and world of final fantasy. Choas was the hardest monster in the game, so much so, I had to actually level more before I tried him again. The leveling was straight forward, and I did enjoy that towards the middle of the game, you were able to upgrader your jobs to their second form. I recommend this game if you have played most of the newer final fantasy game from 7 thru 16.

The people in charge of the Pixel Remasters are definitely super talented but this game is dated to the point making it better would mean chaning the source material too drastically. Clearly meant to be played while balls deep in a complemetary guidebook I'd buy from some disgusting ponytailed troll from GameStop but the early magic systems are cool and the DnD parallels are fun. However if I see another poison spider/scorpion I will *insert credible threat of violence*.

PRO: even though it lacks most of the iconic mainstays of the franchise, like chocobos, it has incredible charm in its simplicity CON: the Marsh Cave is a hellhole

A classic I really enjoyed being able to experience when SE dropped the pixel remasters. A part of me truly wishes they had considered redoing all the FF 1-6 games in the HD-2D style they used for Octopath Traveler and the new Dragon Quest 1-3 re-releases coming up.

Not too bad based on a game from the 1980s. The random encounter timing was pretty nonstop, felt like you were constantly getting into battles, but considering the size of the world and the strength of later boss battles, it was balanced. Graphics were improved with the remake. I found there were some gaps in the story progression where it would lead you to a key item but then drop providing you details on where to go next. Example, you randomly have to find the airship location, knowing where to take the rosetta stone, etc. It really punishes you if you don't talk to EVERYONE, since any one person could be the only key to you progressing the quest. Otherwise, great RPG, definitely a classic. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get into the game
