If this were my first-ever JRPG, it would have made me fall in love with the genre, but due to its defining tropes and quirks that went on to influence every turn-based RPG that came after, lacking fresh glamour for me, I quickly grew tired of the campy nature of the title. The characters, although misplaced in their narrative introductions, are all unique from one another. A monumental improvement from the flat stand-ins of FFI. However, the zany nature of every character often detracted from scenes that were made to be more emotional or serious. Even when everyone I loved was presumed dead, the devs decided to throw in a boob joke and have a dog slay a random eldritch horror on its own. Although I do recognize a lot of the story is a product of its time and similar writing methods applied to modern RPGs can be fruitful, like with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 drawing heavy inspiration from FFVI. Expertise is evident in the music. Not much to say there; it's expected of any FF title, but usually the sprites are also a highlight, yet I ended up enjoying more of the enemy designs in FFI. I attribute to the same problem with tone where some of the hardest bosses use Looney Tunes anvils to attack your party members, taking you away from an otherwise nerve-racking battle. The final boss reminded me of the immense sprite work talent from the original, but to me, it was too little too late. Gameplay was the main highlight for me in terms of the battle systems, but the shoddy bosses and enemy designs that rely on off gimmicks only discoverable in the complementary handbook or online forums are an archaic method of inflating difficulty that I'm glad most games have long since abandoned. It was an interesting ride, a very long ride that many would argue (especially my chatters) was too damn long, but I'm glad I got the iconic title under my belt because I think it will allow me to better appreciate the long strides FFVII did for the franchise.

It is a legendary game. Still not my favorite in the serie, but not by much. I still think there is imperfection here and there, but the soundtrack is in my top 2. It's incredibly good and the remastered version with instrument really elevate the soundtrack. A real Classic through and through.

I did a playthrough of Final Fantasy VI on stream for my brother. Its his favorite Final Fantasy game and while I had played it before, I had never beaten it. Not only did I start and finish the game to completion, but I also unlocked all the achievements the Pixel Remastered version had to offer.

Another Final Fantasy game added to my list played and I do not regret it one bit. Many have said this is one of, if not, the best Final Fantasy game ever made. I do agree with the opinions that this is possibly one of the best Final Fantasy games as the pacing, the story and the OST for this game are amazing. I still hate Kekfa but I truly think that is what makes a good villain and probably one of the only ones that succeed with his plans in the game. Overall, amazing game and would 100% recommend.
