Tomb Raider: Legend is the seventh major game in the Tomb Raider series, now for the first time developed by Crystal Dynamics, along with the original character designer of the game's protagonist, Lara Croft. It serves as a reboot of the franchise, with a new incarnation of Lara Croft. The typical third-person action-adventure exploring is still present, and Lara can move more freely because specific jumps no longer limit her. As players travel through rough environments, they will need to run, dive, swim, climb on poles, ladders, and roofs, use zip lines, shimmy, and vault, with acrobatic actions such as somersaults and flips. Players need to cross difficult terrain, solve puzzles to advance or open up new areas, and engage in combat.

It was the first game with a new Lara's design from Square Enix and first game of this franchise for me. Plus, thanks to the story, it's the best game of that triology in my opinion - 9/10

Until we got the Survivor trilogy I would say that this is my favorite Tomb Raider game. Decent controls, good pacing of the story, good aiming (compared to old ones).

REPLAY
I'd love to give this game 5 stars, but I just don't think it's deserving of a five stars despite being a fantastic game. I think this game is pure FUN. The locations are beautiful and fun to explore. The soundtrack is PHENOMENAL. Here are some of the thoughts behind my rating based on this replay.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay in Legend is rather simple. Gun play only provides you access to two guns at a time, your pistols and one alternative limited ammo weapon. I think the alternative weapons provide a little bit of needed variety but they don't add enough for me to care either way about them. I think the gun play itself is fun when you're up close to an enemy due to the ability to kick, slide, and jump off in slow motion off the enemy! If you're fighting from a distance though... it's a SNOOZE fest. The enemies also often times die by the time you get close enough to pull those moves off so combat felt lackluster to me that way.
In terms of the platforming... I think it's fun but could have used some more complexity and depth. The grapple adds some fun movement, and the poles are EXTREMELY fun to use too, but most areas feel too straightforward and don't push the possibilities of this already simple platforming gameplay to its limits. The highlight of some of the platforming stuff is seen in Croft Manor, and a few other levels like England. I wish they had more puzzle based platforming, where we had to do things to make it possible to move forward.
This game in general lacks heavily in the puzzle department. The most interesting puzzles were for gold secrets and even those don't scratch the surface of what I desire from a tomb raider game.
With that being said, I think the level design was still fantastic because even with all of those gripes, I still find this game incredibly fun. Lara's movement still feels incredibly satisfying, you feel like a badass when climbing and jumping from place to place. You know you're an icon the entire team. A LEGEND.
I had to take some points off for glitches too. I didn't experience a ton of them at first, but towards the end of the game and croft manor there were so many issues.
The "Next Gen Content" prevented me from getting past the level select screen. Lara was unable to open and go through doors in croft manor. Her hair turned into Rapunzel Bayonetta in Nepal, it started freezing and extending places. She fell off a ledge after she already landed on the platform. I was just ANNOYED.
STORY
In my opinion, despite the story's simplicity it still carries this game. Lara has such a REFRESHING and CONFIDENT personality. I think what I love about this game is that this Lara DOES care and she DOES have emotions. They feel raw, honest and human. But she tries to keep it together and keeps going forward. That's what I love about her.
The scene with Amanda at the end is ALWAYS a highlight of the game for me. WHERE. IS. MY. MOTHER!?!?!
Her voice acting is fantastic. We get to learn of her relationships with other people without them taking away from her independence, confidence and character. Legend is PEAK Lara personality. Even better than the OGs I'd argue. I'll acknowledge though that the end is lackluster without Anniversary and Underworld as the story feels incomplete without them.

Can't really complain about this game as everything felt great overall. Did play the xbox 360 version and it still looked and played great despite it being an early 360/late original xbox title that was available for both console generations.
Gameplay:
Lara is back and feels great to play as with her traversal and combat! Combat is simple and you can pick up more guns as Lara but are limited to carrying only 2, Her trusty dual pistols are more than enough to complete more sections as she has new mechanics to help her take out enemies faster. When close to an enemy, Lara can jump off their heads and activate slow mo, to which she can then take out enemies faster and without worrying too much on taking damage. She can also slide to take out their legs and send them flying or use her new magnet hook to either bring enemies down from ledges or closer to her! Traversal is fun and also makes use of her new magnet hook as well but not always necessary. This game really helps accentuate Lara's acrobatics! There is also a tactical lens that Lara can use to help highlight important things in the environment but it doesn't really tell you what to do or how to go about things, which is fine as most puzzles aren't too difficult but still feel good to solve!
Story:
Lara Croft returns believing that her mom is not dead from an accident that happened when she was little. With the help of her friends Zip and Alister, help to uncover what really happened while also tracking down what a new organization wants with some old mysterious artifacts that have Lara globe trotting to different locations!
Visuals:
This game is stunning and looks incredible! You would never know that Tomb Raider Legend was a game available on the xbox 360/PS3 AND the original xbox as well and PSP (I think)! The game performs well and action feels great! Lara herself looks gorgeous and while she is missing her iconic braid, she is front and center and the main attraction as she should be as the titular character! Level designs are easy to navigate along with puzzles but each main environment is distinct from one another!
OST/Soundtrack:
An incredible OST that you can listen to whenever! Each level has such a memorable track and it's no surprise seeing as this composer would go onto to compose the incredibly memorable OST for Transformers Fall of Cybertron! This composer KNOWS how to really create memorable moments through their music!
Tomb Raider Legend is a great return to form for the iconic Lara Croft and I cannot wait to see how her adventure continues in Tomb Raider Underworld as well as more music from the incredibly underappreciated Troels Brun Folmann!! GO PLAY THIS GAME! IT'S VERY WORTH!!!
