New Pokémon Snap is an on-rails first-person photography game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. It is a sequel to the 1999 Nintendo 64 game Pokémon Snap. Players explore an archipelago in an autopilot hovercraft and photograph Pokémon in order to conduct research about their ecology.

This game was fun until it got repetitive. The guidance is not very clear so it can be difficult to know what to do to progress. Nevertheless, the environments were bright and lively, and the game has a unique style that's fun for a while!

I initially started playing this game for about an hour until I decided to finish the original N64 before continuing since I was having such a great time. While I thoroughly enjoyed the original, this game beats it in almost every single aspect with all the improvements to the graphics, variety, quality of life and overall structure. However, I will say that the pacing in this game is much slower and grindier due to the overall length being at least twice as long as the original and even more if you set out to do all the photo missions. The pokemon and wonderful and lively with lots of secrets to get them to behave in certain ways and affect others around them. They range from doing something incredibly adorable to the coolest thing you've ever seen a Pokemon do in a game. It's honestly a great time. With all that said, I did find that the game dragged a while and I found myself wanting it to end sooner than it did. The original game felt like it ended at the perfect length with the amount of content it had. Other than the pacing, one very disappointing and missing interaction in the game was the ability to cause pokemon to evolve. There were also no legendary Pokemon available until after the story had finished, which imo was not a good design decision. The legendary Pokemon in the original game were what kept me going since they are always the standout and unique creatures of the series. I'm the type of person who is basically done with a game once the story is completed, so the decision to leave the legendaries to post-game content was a baffling decision as I would have never known they were included had I not Googled it. The Illumina Pokemon were just giant glowing versions of their original counterparts and didn't really feel unique or majestic the first one. Also, while both games granted the ability to speed through levels once near the end of the game, this game felt like it was given much too late due to larger number of areas to explore. I wanted to try and complete as many missions as possible before progressing to the next area but the repetition got so bad that I ignored most of them by the end. If the speed-up mechanic had been given earlier then the pacing would have been much better and motivatied me to revisit levels from the beginning. By the time I obtained the ability I had seen the areas so many times at the original speed that the experience got stale. The other annoying thing was the way the missions were handed out and what counted as a "completion" for those missions. Often times I would visit a new area and recognize an opportunity for a unique photo and take it on the first try only for the game to then give me a mission to do the exact same thing again. Why it can't just recognize that I had already done it is beyond me and was incredibly frustrating. Players should be rewarded for recognizing these things and having the mission complete automatically regardless if it was given yet or not. This type of forced repetition brought things to a grinding halt for me by the end. Overall the experience was still a wonderful one and I hope they make another entry in this series with all features intact and with improvements. I've always said that my favorite aspect of the Detective Pikachu games was just being able to see the Pokemon live in their habitats either with people or in the wild and this game is the perfect way to express that.

Excelente jogo! Traz a nostalgia do jogo de 64, mas com muito mais horas de gameplay e muitos desafios! O visual ficou incrível e a mecânica do jogo eu curti bastante também! A história principal está zerada e agora falta completa os desafios/enigmas que tem dificuldade variada entre muito fácil e muito difícil!
