Devil May Cry
An HD remaster of Devil May Cry, first made available in "Devil May Cry HD Collection." In the first installment of the Devil May Cry series, the player controls Dante as he faces off against the resurrected Demon Emperor, Mundus. The game introduces Dante's abilities, like Devil Trigger which transforms him into a demon, swordplay, gun-slinging, and stylish combos, all of which have become a staple of the series.

Devil May Cry 1 me llevó unas buenas 8 horas completando también las 12 misiones secretas. La verdad lo disfruté bastante, es un clásico que tenía pendiente. Lo más criticable lejos es la cámara: es durísima, se posiciona como quiere, muchas veces no te deja ver a los enemigos y te complica muchísimo calcular los saltos.
El combate se siente limitado, sobre todo comparándolo con lo que sé que viene después en DMC3, pero para ser un juego de 2001 está más que bien. En su época supongo abra se habra sentido bastante dinámico. El único juego que recuerdo que se le acerque en acción por esos años supongo seria el Onimusha o algunos años antes el Legacy of Kain.
La historia es simple, no pretende mucho, pero cumple.
Algo que me gustó mucho es lo evidente que es que originalmente iba a ser un Resident Evil: los escenarios, la música, las cámaras fijas, la atmósfera y hasta el final escapando en avioneta con una isla explotando lo dejan clarísimo, aunque el lore obviamente no encajaba para nada con RE.
En resumen, creo que para su época fue un juego muy sólido y por eso hoy se le pueden perdonar bastante sus carencias mecánicas.

It was a very good game that a bunch of people have been telling me to play. The problem is old games can be... something I would say, from the camera angles, to a bunch of stuff but I still enjoyed alot. I always feel older games would be more appreciated if you grew up with them and played them as they came out

This is the game that was meant to be Resident Evil 4 and man they really cooked with this game. My bf loved these games and introduced me and since then I've played all the games in the series. Sure it's a little janky since it's such an older game but the juggle hack and slash style combo was so fun!! The music is so on point in this series, so many bangers. The story is a little cheesy just like Dante but I'll take it.
Only missing a few enemy entries for platinum but they are not easy to get as you need the enemy to do specific moves.

He jugado la versión remasterizada, con lo cual gráficamente está más pulido que en su momento, aún manteniendo la esencia original.
El gameplay no está del todo mal, un pelín ortopédico para los estandares actuales, pero es bastante asequible, aunque en ciertos combates se complica solo porque no responde como tu quieres.
En tema historia está muy bien, rapidito y sin complicaciones, aunque no te explican mucho el trasfondo de las cosas, pero al final entiendes las cosas.
La banda sonora top, y el tema de los efectos bastante conseguidos también.
En definitiva, aunque es un juego viejo, sigue siendo buen hack&slash, sobre todo con el remaster que le da un remozado a los gráficos para que no sea tan pixelado para los estandares actuales.

It can be said that the summer of 2007 became a turning point when my gaming life changed very drastically. Here I can note both moving to a new place of residence, meeting new people, and new interests (including anime). And I also played Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, and it became my first game that formed my gaming taste for many years.
Of course, before that I played Resident Evil 1,3 (part 2 somehow passed me by), as well as Dino Crisis 2, but after that there was a long jump into the world of PC gaming and western games, mainly shooters. Here was a completely different situation.
I started following the Devil May Cry series with impatience and played every new part, even the DmC remake. And now, almost 20 years later, I decided to close this big gap by playing the original two games. But let's talk about everything in more detail.
The game was developed as a Resident Evil game, which is very noticeable in the structure of the locations, puzzles, etc. But soon the developers realized that the game was very different from zombie horror and turned it into a new game.
A large number of puzzles, compared to other parts of the series, is due to the fact that you need to return to previous locations to use the items obtained during missions.
The biggest problem in my opinion is the not particularly memorable music. For the entire game, I can remember 1-2 tracks that I really liked. Unfortunately, I can't even remember the tune of the rest.
But what deserves praise is the combat system, which, although noticeably inferior in variety to future parts, some elements and weapons have remained unchanged even after almost 20 years.
It is difficult to recommend the first part to modern players, because it is not even the first game in chronology, and it is very difficult to call it mandatory for understanding the main plot. Perhaps the game introduces a character like Trish into the narrative, but even she cannot be called the one without whom it was impossible to do.

Great entry into the Devil May Cry series! I would love to give it a 9, but I felt 8 was reasonable! The soundtrack was amazing, which is something I always look out for with games that have intense combat.
The story was really good, as we get to see the rise of Dante and our first introduction to Trish. It's a shame the game is short, but it offers replay value with hard mode.
Some of the enemies and bosses made me think more, as I couldn't just slash away and win... I had to learn to watch enemy patterns, time Dante's devil trigger and manage my items in order to survive the ordeals thrown at me.
In conclusion I highly recommend anyone interested in Devil May Cry, to play this game! This game has motivated me to play Devil May Cry 2 and 3 for the first time and to return again to 4 and 5!
