Breath of Fire IV is a single-player game that continues the story with these "dragon people," who gave their lives to eradicate the evil goddess and restore peace in their world. This time around, battle has broken out between two powerful continents, and the fair Princess Elena has disappeared during a tour of the war-torn region. The princess's sister, Nina, who reigns o'er the Windia Kingdom, vows to retrieve her missing sibling. She meets Ryu along the way, who joins the epic quest

My all-time favourite RPG game. Outside of Pokémon, this was my first RPG game I played before going into Final Fantasy. With all other RPG games out there, I always find myself coming back to this every few years or so. I love the story, the art direction is beautiful, soundtrack is one of the best and it has all the core RPG mechanics you need in a classic RPG. There are times it's easy and times it gets difficult. Highly recommend.

Overall a solid homage to the older era with some design flaws.
To many minigames makes it a bit irritating and alot of systems are locked behind other systems. Heck one of the skills requires like 80 hours of play time.
That aside combat gets a bit repetitive at high levels. Other than this is a solid title.

Cool Capcom Turn Based RPG. Reminds of DarkStalkers Artwork. I like the character transformation. Lacking in customization. Same sword whole game.
One of the most important games I played.
Breath Of Fire as a whole uses the act of deicide as an expression of autonomy, and freeing oneself from the influence of deities.
You are supposed to hate the character Yuna, because he represents the human attachment to gods and the selfish way people use deities for their own ambitions.
The master system is toned down and refined, with much less emphasis on maximizing stats. There is a great cast of characters, with an extremely reflective and analytical story. You'll learn a lot about the dragons and how they affect the world around them, with some historical references to the other games. The feudal Asian setting added a lot to the immersion.
Experiment with combo magic. (:
