Willow is a surprisingly strong action RPG loosely (and i mean loosely) based on the film. With top-down swordplay, magic spells, and classic XP grinding, it feels like Zelda meets Crystalis. Beautiful 8-bit graphics and a stellar soundtrack elevate the experience, though heavy grinding and vague objectives can slow things down. Still, a hidden gem worth playing for fantasy fans. + Great music & visuals + Solid combat & progression – Lots of grinding – Confusing at times – Screen Shake can be rough for some people This was also the first game I tried RetroAchievments on. Overall it wasn't too demanding except for the higher endgame level grinding for the achievements

AM2R – The Definitive Metroid II Experience AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) doesn’t just remake Metroid II—it perfects it. This fan-made project takes the rough, outdated Game Boy original and transforms it into one of the most polished, faithful, and downright enjoyable Metroidvanias ever created. Built in the style of Metroid: Zero Mission, AM2R features smooth, responsive controls, tight platforming, refined combat, and a beautifully atmospheric world. The visual design is rich with detail, the music is an emotional blend of remixed classics and original tracks, and the level design is crafted with real intention. It’s not just a remake—it’s a complete reimagining that stays true to the heart of the series. Every new boss, area, and upgrade feels like it belongs. There’s no filler, no bloat—just pure Metroid design philosophy executed to near perfection. Compared to Nintendo’s official remake, Samus Returns, AM2R is less flashy but far more focused. It respects the player’s intelligence, avoids hand-holding, and puts exploration and atmosphere at the center of the experience—exactly as Metroid should. Pros Faithful to the Metroid legacy Smooth controls and classic mechanics Beautiful pixel art and immersive soundtrack Meaningful additions that elevate the original Deep exploration, smart progression, and zero filler Final Score: 10/10 AM2R is a masterclass in game design, and one of the best Metroidvanias ever made. Not just for fans—for everyone.
