Tales of Phantasia is the first installment of the Tales series, and was released by Namco in 1995 for the Super Famicom. Released at the end of 1995, Tales of Phantasia is considered one of the crowning achievements for its time. It has graphics that push the console to its limits, an original never-before-seen battle system, and the addition of actual voices and voice actors. It is also the first and only Super Famicom game to feature an entirely original, vocalized theme song featured directly in the game.

An incredible game and the perfect starting point to a series that has lasted to this day. I played the original version for SNES and the graphics are beautiful, the music is wonderful, and quite frankly its fighting system was VERY innovative even for today, I believe.

The characters here are incredibly charming and the game can be pretty funny while still carrying on a serious story and moments. I think story wise my only complaint is the end felt incredibly rushed and I feel we were missing important perspectives.

Gameplay wise the camera in battle could get very frustrating with how little control you had over it and how it can pinball back and forth and make it hard to see what is happening. I also feel like playtesting towards the end with some of the optional content was thrown out the window cause MAN even with my high levels it was incredibly tough. Or maybe I just suck, lol. Still it didn't take my enjoyment away.

I hate you Moria Gallery.

Beautiful sprites and music, story very intriguing though it falls apart a bit at the end imo. Can't comment much on gameplay since I was watching but it looked fun asides from the camera moving around on its own.
