There is no story apart from becoming the champion, but there doesn't need to be more than that. This game is tough, but fun. Old games of this nature were often designed as reaction engines that read player inputs for artificial difficulty.
In Super Punch Out, one must become the reaction engine. Your enemies will telegraph everything. Be patient. (:
My thoughts on this game mirror that of Punch Out on the NES. I rewound scenarios until I got the win (played on SNES NSO), so I probably didn't understand it as much as I should have. Mac's got a lot more going on in his arsenal of punches and jabs, including a brand new meter that when charged up, unleashes a devastating punch that can potentially K.O your opponent. Enemy fighters here are also more varied in personality, along with those who return from the NES game as well. The frustration is still there, and like when I reached the final fight in Punch Out, I was over this game once I reached the special circuit. Maybe one day i'll return and try it legit so I can understand it better, but I still enjoyed it regardless
