I have no intention of completing Starfield, but I wanna be in space for a while π
150 hours
Many people talk trash about Starfield but I did enjoy it quite a bit. Don't get me wrong the game is flawed in many ways but it was still enjoyable for me. The most enjoyable stuff was everything but the main story that was ok at best but short and not so intriguing.
GAMEPLAY
oh boy; a big leaning curve here and a lot of different gameplay mechanics to embrace and get used to; if you're not committed, you probably wont like the game. It does a bad job as explaining how everything works and interact; there's so much stuff happening on screen at the same time that it becomes confusing real quick and you start forgetting what does what. The flying, docking and fast traveling is so not instinctive; once you get the grip of it it's easier yes, but it's not fun at all. Levelling up and the skill tree I liked, it makes you think and used the skills you want. the Outpost building is great even if limited, i spend too much time building so many outposts, same with the ship building. The economy in that game is a real bottleneck even if you change the setting for the vendors to have more money, it's sometime off-putting when you want to accomplish grand things. The shooting is not always the most accurate, for example you cant shoot through a ladder, it's a solid see-through wall, even snipping a headshot sometimes misses for some reason when you're defo on target; at the end i didn't bother with accuracy as it didnt matter.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
This part is trash and convoluted; you do have your main categories like spacesuits and guns. but no way to manage or find your stuff properly, it's true for your inventory, your ship inventory and outpost inventory; you lose so much time trying to manage it and not get rid of something important. Also if you scan planets, and get a lot of surveys, there's no way to just have those in they own category, same with the useless books so you end up with so many of those and no way to easily sort them. A real pain in the butt.
GRAPHICS
The game looks great, it has that Bethesda feel of course but i didnt had much bug in that department, some planets are quite repetitive in terms of plants and fauna and they all start looking the same. Even the various factions ships and base; they have some small difference but only when you up close, making it tough to know who's friend or foe in space.
BUGGS
I got a lot of bugs with the game freezing, not during mission but during exploration, mainly when scanning planets or just reaching a far away temple; landing in Akila was buggy too. I had to restart my game at least 50 times, no jokes, and it's a pain when you are out exploring and building outposts cause you can lose a good chunk of progress even with frequent autosave.
PLATINUM
Not gonna lie, it was grindy, there's a lot to do to get all the trophies, so if you dont like the game.....good luck. I enjoyed the platinum experience though, nothing was too excruciating if you like all the site content of exploring and building outpost; i did all of this before playing the main story or the factions stories, meaning that i didn't have any clean-up to do at the end really. If you want to speed run the plat then you will need a guide for sure to optimise everything. You do need to visit all the start systems and there are over a 100, but it makes your story playthrough faster as you would have explored everything. All in all, i enjoyed it but mainly cause i knew what i was in for and my expectations were lowered.
