A call for help comes from deep in the universe. Fantasyland has been taken over by destructive forces. Quick on the scene is Space Harrier equipped with his laser, who must attempt to outwit and outmanoeuvre the hoards and prevent Fantasyland from being blown into oblivion!

There's some 1980s science fiction anime influence to this game's aesthetics. You might notice some visual similarities to Phantasy Star in that regard. I can't call this the most refined visually given the choppy animations. It was a simple, yet capable arcade port. Games released early in the Genesis life cycle suffered from Sega's tendency to rush projects. I can't call this objectively bad, either. I had fun, and the variety of bosses with simple patterns to memorize will push players to challenge themselves.
