Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed - Special Edition is a 1996 retail re-release of The Need for Speed for PC which includes several improvements over the original 1995 PC release. It introduced support for Microsoft Windows 95, whilst capable of running on Microsoft DOS, and several improvements to its rendering engine as well as two additional tracks. The complete soundtrack playing during races was also made available on the Special Edition. This feature was previously only in the PlayStation and Sega Saturn releases.

Emulator DOS

 

Игра безбожно устарела конечно же. Сюжета ноль, графика конечно крайне старая. Машин мало, трасс мало, делать в ней нечего. ИИ соперников очень высокий, победить не получится. Для ознакомления и галочки. 1/10

Really liked that each car had synthesized info on it's performance and history along with some actual photos and a video of it in action. Also, cool to see how racing games started out on DOS, and while it's pretty dated and hand break can be clunky, they've still put a lot of effort to make the cars feel like the real ones as much as possible.
