The peaceful world of the LocoRoco is under attack by the not-so-nice Moja Corps! These evil outer space creatures have come to take the LocoRoco from their land of blowing flowers, lively creatures and pastel scenery. You must move the LocoRoco through more than 40 levels of slippery slopes, teetering platforms, and maze-like passages. The LocoRoco have the uncanny ability to fluidly morph to their landscape, so all you need is to tilt, roll, and bounce the happy blob-like creatures to safety.

LocoRoco Remastered

LocoRoco is fun, and seems like it would've been well-suited for pick up and play sessions on the console of its original release, the PSP. On PS4, the game is at a far higher resolution - though pre-rendered cutscenes remain the same - and can be controlled using the left and right bumpers, rather than solely though motion controls. In this way, it's both an improvement - in controls - and a downgrade - in form factor - from the original. Perhaps I'd have enjoyed this more if I committed to playing with the optional motion controls, but I far preferred the more granular control of the bumpers. As is, upon finishing the game, I just find myself wishing that Sony made more games like LocoRoco still, rather than specifically more LocoRoco games. It's a shame that autosaving wasn't added to this re-release - remembering to save after each level, and also doing so, feels a bit tedious, with the PlayStation 4's default save system. LocoRoco remastered also could've done with a way to lower the controller volume, so that this didn't have to be adjusted globally in the system settings to lower the unreasonably loud default volume.
