Welcome to the 1980s. Experience Tommy Vercetti’s tale of betrayal and revenge in the neon-soaked tropical sprawl of Vice City, a town brimming with excess, ready to be taken over, your way.

Going back to Vice City through the Definitive Edition was a real treat. There's something special about diving back into this classic with better graphics and some much needed improvements. I was smart to wait for the patches since everyone was complaining about how buggy it was at launch, and I'm glad I did because my experience was pretty smooth.
The graphics upgrades aren't going to blow your mind or anything, but they definitely make the game look better. The lighting is improved, the character models look cleaner, and Vice City's neon soaked streets have more pop to them. Sure, it's not going to compete with modern games visually, but it does enough to make the whole 80s vibe feel fresh again without losing what made the original so memorable.
The real game changer though is the quality of life stuff they added. Having auto save and better checkpoints is honestly a godsend. Anyone who played the original remembers the pain of failing a mission and having to drive all the way back across the map just to try again. Those days are thankfully over, and it makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. You can actually focus on having fun instead of worrying about losing progress.
The story itself is pretty short compared to the other games in the trilogy, but honestly that works in its favour. Everything feels tight and focused. Tommy's rise through the criminal underworld moves at a good pace, and you never feel like missions are just there as filler. Every part of the story actually matters, which is refreshing.
