It's a fun game, but the difficulty is much higher than the first one. Some of the spider levels overdo the gimmick by making you spend several minutes making webs to cross gargantuan pits (this is not an exaggeration.) I liked how you explored the island the Kremlings come from.

Holy smokes was this game different from the first one. The difficulty was stepped up a notch for sure on some levels. I do need to go back and try to 102% this for sure. The bonus levels made it worthwhile to change my mind and feels rewarding upon completion to get to the lost levels

This one took me the longest to do deathless. About 9 streams worth of attempts, and a lot of them were just silly ones. But that's usually the case with this challenge

A soundtrack manteve a qualidade do anterior.

Donkey Kong Country 2 keeps enough of the flow state of the first game while expanding the level and mechanic variety to flourish. I do need to describe this game in the context of its peers to specify how critical this flow is. This trilogy has a mix of linear levels, light exploration, and bonus games. The main strain on this relationship is time from discovering bonus to completing bonus, as this gets in the way of enjoying the level if it's too long and diminishes the value of doing the bonus in the first place. DKC1 very much hides most of its secrets, requiring you to use a barrel in a specific place, jump above the camera, etc. The secrets themselves might be a short 5 second minigame, or a separate part of the level to run through. No issues with ruining the pacing but you aren't getting these bonuses unless you really explore. DKC3 is at the other end of the spectrum, slowing down the pace very much by showing you the bonus barrel a good 10 seconds before you're actually in it. You'll often need to stop and use the grab ability to throw your teammate in the barrel (or to get a DK coin from an enemy), stopping the platforming harshly. You then have bonus levels which average around 20 seconds, harshing the game vibe. DKC2 strikes a good enough balance by still having these bonus barrels scattered around, but not requiring throw mostly and having the bonus levels average 10 seconds. I think this ended up being net neutral for me, which means I can enjoy a different spin on level pacing than the first game. Plus I get the added benefits from having extra Kremlin coins rewarding with bonus levels and a DKC coin for each level. The minecart levels are a good way to describe how they've upped the level design game. Bringing in familiar movement mechanics (minecart), adding some brand new ideas (10-person relay race), while also remixing ideas from the first game (plus/minus barrels from Tanked Up Trouble). This philosophy extends to Dixie, level design (e.g. vertical sections using honey instead of ropes), and all of the animals. The animals were pretty underfeatured in the first game, so I'm pretty for them being included more. Rambi and Engarde return from the first game, which emphasizes horizontal movement, and Rattly, Squitter, and the parrots emphasize different types of vertical movements. Lots of different mechanics to work from and the game delivers. Finally, the level aesthetic is on point. I dig the pirate aesthetic as a base aesthetic like the jungle was in the first game. Both of the first two games have a wide variety of pretty locations and pleasing songs and it's one of the reason you play these games. The only knock is that the sky thorn levels are a visual mess. I also benefitted a bit from playing this game on NSO with rewind, as there were a few levels where I wanted to try risky strats which were fun when they worked but would have lost a minute of progress (e.g. going aggressive on the bird race). It also allowed me to be more relaxed depending on my vibe (e.g. I can be sloppier on a boss). Overall, a great time, and an easy recommend. Playing the first two worlds a few days after slogging through the first two worlds of DKC3 really emphasized that I can't take good main/bonus level pacing for granted, and Tropical Freeze reminds me how easy it is to fuck up the non-standard platforming levels. DKC2 does the most right in the series.

such an amazing game, honestly one of the hardest games i have played in a long time. you see lots of things that were taken and used in dkc 3 to add even more playability to the game. finished the game with around 60% completion and theres way more to do. recommend it to any type of player thats looking for a challenging platformer.
