Hack and slash/Beat 'em up

Science fiction

The SNES version of the game was released in 1993. It is fundamentally a left-to-right scrolling fighter beat 'em up, a genre that was featured heavily on the console at the time. The gameplay and graphics are very similar to the Final Fight games. The game takes the player through seven scenes featured in the film. Each scene has a boss fight that Batman must win in order to proceed to the next scene.

[Normal mode playthrough] This was really good! I originally sought this out because for some reason I thought it might be a co-op beat-em-up to play with my son, but when I found it wasn't it moved to the way back burner for a very long time. Now I can finally say that I've sat down and played through the game -- with a small dose of save scumming on the more nonsense bosses. It was really shockingly good! It follows the plot of the 1992 Tim Burton film pretty much to the tee. The mixed level design kept things fresh, although the controls were a bit opaque and unfriendly at times. Batman is surprisingly slow to move, which was often frustrating, but not too much that I didn't want to keep playing. The sprites were big and chunky, well detailed, and expressive. Enemy types weren't super varied, but they got the job done. The music was great and very evocative of the film. There are alternative endings for beating the game on the various difficulty levels, but I've got to say I'm really glad that I looked them up on YouTube instead of replaying the entire game 2 or 3 more times for *that* minor of a difference.

Batman Returns for Super Nintendo is the best version of this movie license as a game. This game is a beat em up title with tight controls, great graphics, amazing music based on the Elfman soundtrack and it portrays the story extremely well for it's time! A must play SNES game! (the only thing that makes this game not perfect is the lack of a multiplayer mode)

Fala Galera, tudo beleza?

Fala galera, tudo beleza?
