Despite my low score, I think there will be players that find, play and rate this title much higher than I did.
Combat in this game is very unique conceptually. I was having lots of fun through the intro and the first level of the game. Eventually the fun stopped due to the sheer repetitivity of the said combat as well as the enemies.
I'm not a stranger to dungeon crawlers nor turn based combat. This game is just a little hard to chew. There are several difficulty options, and even the easiest difficulty "normal" is really darn hard.
Between infrequent save options and difficulty of the actual progression I found myself anxious to actually play.
Due to the way combat works, feeling of progression doesn't exist, and variety in the combat itself doesn't exist either. From what I've read, there's another option that gets introduced later on (that I did not get to) that makes the combat more interesting. Though I imagine even that will get stale fast.
Pretty much every single fault I have with this game will fall on the actual gameplay/combat loop, difficulty and length.
Every other aspect of the game is really well done. Be it the soundtrack, visuals, story, overall setting, voice acting, etc. It is all top notch.
I will put extra emphasis on the beautiful soundtrack & visuals.
I unfortunately had to read spoilers, as I simply can't get myself to spend another 30 hours repeating what I've already done for the first 5. However, what I've read is really unique and worth experiencing for those that don't mind this sort of gameplay loop.
