Good Metroidvania that ties into the movie well setting up for the sequel. Unfortunately the combat and boss encounters let it down. There is no block, only a dodge roll which in itself isn't bad but a lot of enemies especially in the ending of the game are in areas filled with eviromental hazards that makes it impossible to dodge damage. The enemies are also contantly aware of your position even through walls, as a result they are always in the perfect place on platforms to prevent your climb and cause damage. This is compounded in the boss fights which just through so much at you with adds and enviromental traps. The boss fights become more of a slog with the pitiful damage output of your character., making boss fights last up to 30 mins. With some tweeks this could be a stellar metroidvania but it has fallen into so many basic traps of the genre that is will stay decidedly average. Luckily the story, soundtrack and visuals are great. Hopefully the devs will make the gameplay ajustments to make it a must play.
