Eh, the graphics were solid and the soundtrack was great but the gameplay felt clunky and slow for a Sonic game.
Really fun fundamentals, but falls off heavily in the latter half, becomes boring and boss fights are infuriatingly slow, boring and frustrating, especially the final boss, only sonic game where i didn't feel inclined to 100% don't even really feel like touching trips story
1Sonic Superstars does feel a lot like a classic Sonic game, but unlike Mania Superstars encompasses the bad of the old games too. Superstars starts off pretty decent but unwravels into a bit of a mess of confusing design decisions around Golden Capital Zone. That's not to say every zone before that was a banger, but I found them to be mostly fun. Most zones after were boring, frustrating, or both.
I appreciate that the bosses in this game aren't extreme pushovers for once, but they're a massive pace breaker at the end of each act. All bosses have really long invulnerability after each hit, and often become a bit of a tedious waiting game. I think Superstars would have benefitted from separating its zone bosses into their own levels - like in the Sonic Rush games.
I don't really like the art style of anything but the actual characters. Everything looks kind of cheap, and I don't really know why. Superstars generally feels like a budget game, and I think Sega sent it out to die somewhat by pricing it so high. Mania, and in fact even Origins, are far more enjoyable packages for far less.

Sonic Superstars is a great sequel entry in the classic sonic lineup and it really holds up gameplay and graphically to it's predecessors such as Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and Mania! I 100% recommend this game!
