In the near future, a mysterious, growing, black void appears at the Earth's southern pole. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Doomguy's Bizarre Adventure! In all seriousness though, this was the first proper SMT game I had ever played and what a hell of an introduction to the series it was. Downright brutal in difficulty and far more philosophical than I was expecting. Play the enhanced Redux release on the 3DS. It adds a plethora of new content including characters and voice acting!
