UPDATE: so oficially after around 30 hours of playtime, ive had enough and im ready to drop this game for now and im making my score lower (from a 7 to a 5), cause after getting through the "main campaign" ive realized how little this game actually has, the underlying gameplay and skating and exploration was still really fun, i was still enjoying myself going to spots and just skating them over and over again just to see what cool stuff i could do, but then once you get to the main gameplay it legit becomes mobile game levels of grind

every day i booted up the game to do the daily missions which range from comically easy to just grind, and then do the daily rotation of challenges which is way too small of a selection so basically youre doing the same challenges in the same places over and over again, and all of this for the only semblance of progression which is unlocking cosmetics and thats it, nothing else. skate jams are way too limited and give you no reward for participating, all the challenges give you the same amount of points no matter the difficulty, the new season consists of nothing but a couple super quick challenges a battle pass and a couple new items around the map, and then add in all the myriad of bugs and technical issues (not just "haha funny skate" bugs but also things like missions being broken) and what youre left with is a game the devs need to put more effort onto asap. i still have hope theyre working hard to make the game better and what we have so far is just meant to be a taste but we will have to see

below is my old more positive review of this game, read it if you wanna see what changed and what didnt

"Honestly very confused about the hate on this game online, people love framing this as a cash grab betrayal of skate fans and, sure, this game does include all the lingering cosmetic monetization tactics of today but besides all that what youre really left with is just a fun continuation of the skate series that you can finally play on modern systems

the gameplay is just as fun as skate 3's, it definetly leans way more unrealistic now but that doesnt exactly hinder enjoyment, and the new parkour system is such a good addition it is so fun to just flip and dive all over the place and using it to climb to new spots adds such good depth to exploration, the only unfortunate part of this new system is the new "stunt" missions probably are replacing the classic hall of meat mode, which was objectively funnier and more fun and something every skate fan remembers fondly

all in all if they dont creep too far with the monitization and just leave this as a chill fun skating game like it is now, it is totally a worthy sequel in my opinion, and it does seem like the devs are willing to mold the game to what the fans want so im excited to see what comes next"

A really nice little surprise this game was, very impressive for a browser game its not massive but its still fun to explore and see what you find or just greet the other players
