A pretty simple 2D platformer. The story here is pretty simple but works completely fine. The presentation is also very simple with the environment and music remaining the same throughout the whole game. With that said, the environment on display is quite nice and colorful and the music is decent. Gameplay-wise, it’s pretty good! The levels aren’t very long but they’re designed really nicely and offer some legitimate challenge as the game progresses! With that being said, this is still a very short game. The controls are also pretty decent, but there were some weird jumping and landing physics that threw off my platforming every now and then. As for the platinum, it’s incredibly easy. And sadly, it doesn’t really offer up anything unique or challenging on the short trek to obtaining it. Overall though, I really enjoyed my time with the game and if you’re looking for a short and simple 2D platformer, this just might be the game for you!

A challenging but fun remake of a classic 2D platformer! The story is your standard “save the kingdom” premise but it still holds up pretty well. The presentation is where this remake shines the most. It is absolutely gorgeous and the pixel art environments are beautiful! Everything looks and runs so smoothly and the animations are fantastic! The remade music tracks are also really good! The gameplay is also pretty fun! The levels are designed really well and they feel, generally, good to traverse. Though some of Alex’s physics and controls can make playing through them incredibly annoying! This is likely due to the added frames in his animations making his movements difficult to read, but luckily, it’s something that can eventually be gotten used to. And the option to instantly switch to the classic graphics is also present, which is a nice feature to have. As for the platinum, it’s pretty good. It’s not very complicated, but there are a few unique trophies in there that add a bit of variety. Overall though, this is a pretty good game! If you’re a fan of retro 2D platformers with beautiful pixel art graphics and fun, challenging gameplay, this might be the game for you!
