After playing this game for a little over 100 hours, it's hard to write this, but maybe my review can give you some insight to make the decision for yourself.
Small note for solo players - this game can be played solo, but all of the events you will have other people join you. You can not opt out of having your house visible to other players - however you can make it where they cannot interact with your items or even enter the home. Certain events (like the MLP event) require interactions with other players for you to get every item.
1. Very cute characters, furniture, and aesthetic. It is very fun to decorate and build your home and I love the "neighborhood" idea where you can ride around and see everyone else's homes and creations. The building needs A LOT of work, but has a good base to work with. This is what I spent a lot of my time playing with. HOWEVER, a lot of the cute building items are locked behind the gacha/pay wall system.
2. The gacha system - this is incredibly predatory and what I mean by that is that 1 item might cost a measly 30 gems, but then the next item costs 60, then 90, then up to 400 gems sometimes. By playing the game you earn like 10 here and there... even if you saved them all up to the end of the season, you would not be able to get everything in a specific gacha without spending extra money. They know this. There is a specific one where if you land on the "best item" you can get ALL the other items for free, but I tried it 5 or 6 times and the very LAST item I got was the special item... so I had to pay for everything anyways. I play lots of these types of games and this is the first one I saw that was this harsh. It is all a pay grab and doesn't feel very rewarding. If you could earn more (more than the small amount they give you) of the gem currency by actually playing the game it would feel better for players.
3. Whoever is running the Discord is currently silencing users that speak out about issues. This was also a response to players bringing up racist elements of the game. Many just found themselves banned or messages deleted. It is hard to want to continue playing a game when the team doesn't seem to care (and this is what it looks like when you silence customers) and if you have a concern or just want to leave some constructive criticism, you are dismissed.
4. This is a mobile game packaged up for the PC. I play this mainly on an iPad and the experience is SOO much better than playing this on PC - just purely for quality of life. I only really play on the PC to get a better view while building my home, otherwise I'm on IOS.
There is POTENTIAL here. It is very fun to jump into a neighborhood and build and travel around, especially if you play with friends - but it needs polish and the team NEEDS to listen to their consumers. Currently I'm not seeing that happen, so for that reason it is hard to recommend it. If updates happen that alleviates some of these issues, I would be more than happy to come back to this review and recommend it.
