Twisted Metal 4 is the fourth installment in the Twisted Metal series and the second and last installment to be developed by 989 Studios. The game's plot centers on Sweet Tooth, the long-time mascot of the titular Twisted Metal competition, overthrowing Calypso, the mysterious organizer of the competition, in a coup d'état. He then takes over the mantle of granting the winner of the competition a single wish, regardless of price, size or even reality.

o 4 e ultimo jogo da franquia Twisted Metal no PS1, esse jogo conseguiu superar seus anteriores em alguns aspectos que deixaram o jogo um pouco mais divertido. Mantendo ainda a mesma formula de gameplay que é a essência do jogo e só mudando o design de algumas coisas para deixar diferente. Twisted Metal 4 não há muito a se falar, o jogo mudou apenas na sua interface, adicionou novos personagens (incluindo Rob Zombie) e teve o enredo (que continua fraco e de fundo mesmo) alterado com o Sweet Tooth agora sendo o vilão principal. Os gráficos ficaram ligeiramente melhores, nada de especial. Os controles permaneceram iguais e a dificuldade das fases foram melhores balanceadas, com exceção do boss final que é necessário de cheats na sua fase pra poder finalizar mais tranquilamente. Mas o ponto forte mesmo ficou pra trilha sonora que agora sim é mais audível e toca musicas muito boas incluindo do proprio Rob Zombie citado anteriormente! Esse é um jogo que vale mais apena recomendar pra quem tem curiosidade de jogar algo da franquia.
