Simplistic approach to a resistance management simulator. Works well, historical timeline obviously accurate. Weekly turns on managing a resistance group. No fancy graphics (needed), this game lives with the story and backgrounds of the characters and historical events. One star off for weekly turns - would prefer the possibility to assign tasks and change schedules of NPCs more often. Maybe that could have been made available for the player as a choice in the beginning (weekly/daily turns)? Steam review: Starting in Berlin 1933, this game follows a historical timeline. Game rounds are one week. In Through the Darkest of Times, you lead a group of resistance fighters, who in the background try to weaken the influence of Hitler and his minions. The setting and timeline is historically quite accurate - be it from the day that Hitler took the power to assassination attempts, the beginning of war, the setback in the war to the end of war - it is covered in weekly steps. There is always the chance of one of your team to be imprisoned, if you are not careful. You may also run out of funds and resources rather easily, so look at them frequently. You decide, which of the tasks you want to do yourself and which one you assign to which NPC. The mechanics in this game is simple - this is a game, where your people-/task-/resource management skills are put to a test. Recommended for someone, who does want to play something completely different from action games. Simulation at its purest.
