Set during a single, endlessly-looping day within "The Sexy Brutale" - a stately English mansion converted into a bizarre casino and named by the enigmatic Marquis - players take on the role of elderly priest Lafcadio Boone. To progress, Boone must hide, watch and learn the colorful stories of the other guests at the ball in order to save them from grisly deaths at the hands of the mansion’s staff.

I absolutely ADORED this game, and its mechanics. I found The Sexy Brutale extremely stylish, fun, and fascinating. The lore within this game is INSANE, I'm the type of person who tends to try to skip over reading anything unnecessary but with the mystery of this game, it drove me to investigate and question everything I found. Some things were necessary for progression, and some were just for flavor and deepening your understand of the place but I enjoyed all of the information they gave me. The gameplay mechanics are also relatively straight forward, and a lot of things you can figure out by trying things but I do remember some moments where I felt very lost. I played the entirety of OG Tomb Raider without using a guide, but I do think I might've consulted one for one or two moments in this game. I'd have to check my VOD, because I'm not 100% sure I did, but I know for the very least it's hard to track what collectibles you do and don't have, and that led to me taking a ton of time consulting a guide on how to figure that out because there's too many to search for them all again. That's the main reason I put the gameplay at 3 stars. You don't NEED all of them, but they unlock an alternative ending so I really wanted to see it, and it was honestly better than the actual ending we see in the mainline game. I loved the story of this game and all of the mystery it built, but the love for the story shattered with its finale. It wasn't completely unexpected but SPOILER ALERT I hate the idea of "it was all a dream" and there's VERY few times that I've seen it well executed. For that reason, I would still recommend playing this game, but I don't see anyone being satisfied by the ending and I find the whole point of a mystery is to find the answers. When the answers are dissatisfying then it can really soil the experience. I think the music alone is actually a reason to play this game, and the visuals are stunning, the gameplay is fun (albeit frustrating with some moments you have to line up and figure out perfectly) but it's not a bad experience in the slightest if you're not trying to 100% and if you don't mind a bad ending. I think it's because it being a dream really detracted from my experience and made me wonder how MUCH of it was real. That's the main reason the ending bothered me was because it took away from the fantasy of The Sexy Brutale.

Really fun and quirky murder mystery game about fiddeling with time until you've gathered all the required info to stop the killing. The Sexy Brutale — a never-ending masked ball featuring intrigue, murder and the (quite possibly) occult! Relive the same mysterious day where the guests at the casino mansion are being murdered by the staff over and over again..

THE SEXY BRUTALE 7 1/2 "50 sfumature di noir" GRAFICA:7 SONORO:7/8 GIOCABILITA':6/7 LONGEVITA':7 1/2 TRAMA:8 EMOZIONE:7 +Ambientazione e background +OST di qualità +Storia interessante con un finale di grandissimo livello... -...anche se a causa dell'inglese non mi sono goduto al meglio le fasi intermedie -E' comunque un inglese ostico anche per gli esperti -Alcuni enigmi un po' assurdi A volte capita di trovarsi tra le mani un titolo che di tuo non avresti acquistato . Te lo regalano un po’ a tradimento , dicendoti : “ questo gioco mi sembra proprio adatto a te “ e tu pensi “ mah ok se lo dici tu ...mh ma è in inglese !” Ci ho messo alcuni mesi per trovare il “coraggio “ di giocare a the sexy brutale . Un avventura grafica con marcatissimi elementi puzzle presentante un atmosfera retro tendente al noir con un lieve umorismo british macabro ed una grafica disegnata a mano . Tutto molto intrigante in effetti , ma c’è un problema: è interamente in inglese . Ciononostante (con L aiuto di una guida ) sono riuscito a giocare il titolo , e sono rimasto decisamente stupito. Sexy brutale è un avventura grafica puzzle capace di fare sclerare per i suoi enigmi legati allo scorrere ed il riavvolgere il tempo e che racconta una storia che sembra inizialmente semplice e niente più che un pretesto per provare a salvare gli ospiti della villa ma che sfocia in un finale incredibile, chiaro da comprendere anche a chi non conosce L inglese alla perfezione è che colpisce con un diretto allo stomaco . La narrativa e L atmosfera noir retro tirano le fila dell esperienza aiutati da una OST di grande impatto capace di restare in testa . Non devo più avere paura dei giochi in inglese , oggi con the sexy brutale credo di avere fatto un grosso passo in avanti nei confronti della cosa .

I think I waited too many years to play and appreciate this game fully, with expectations set too high after other games did time looping better. It had an interesting enough story, but it was just really dull to play, and the puzzles were so easy that I felt like I was missing something deeper (I wasn't). The whole game was over in 4 hours. It was just "okay," but I would only recommend it to people who are newer to puzzle games. Play Ghost Trick or Outer Wilds instead.
