The Mortuary Assistant could take it's time easing you into the scares, but that would mean spending less time scaring you. Sure, most of them are jump scares the manner in which they are executed keeps things fresh and original.
The task of examining and preparing bodies for burial, already quite morbid, is weighted beneath the more pressing matter of identifying demonic possession before it takes hold of your mind.
Each subsequent night you piece together more of the story until the puzzles make sense and you find yourself exploring more of the mortuary.
Embalming mode also exists for those seeking to avoid the story and demons and just have a regular, if grim, job.

I really enjoyed the game for what it was overall! It did have some spoopy moments that scared me for a quick second!
There are 6 endings in the game and I somehow only kept getting the 3rd ending over and over again because skill issue!

TERRIFYING GAME. Very unsettling and uncomfortable the moment you start a night. Go into it as blind as you can. It does have a bit of a learning curve in the beginning because there is a lot to do, and you can easily feel overwhelmed, but that is also very much the intention.
It does reuse a lot of story moment scenarios, though, and those do lose their spooky charm after the 3rd or 4th time.
Under all the horror is a very heartfelt story. A nugget of hope amongst the overwhelming despair.
