This game is a masterpiece.

The Good: Very nice graphics, a massive open world, an interesting main campaign, side-quests, and expansions (though the conclusions to the main campaign and expansion 1 are a bit anticlimactic). Unique melee combat with attack type depending on directional movement. Versatile spell catalog: Night Eye (see better in the dark), breathe underwater, walk on water, levitate (fly!), hurl fireballs, invisibility, teleportation, paralysis, etc. Creative mechanics: create unique spells and spell combinations, write magic scrolls, brew potions, enchant accessories, armor, clothing, and weapons. Multiple factions to level up with providing loot and unique perspectives on the world. Music that always makes me smile.

The Bad: Playing the original X-Box version's Game of the Year Edition on an X-Box One S, this game crashed about once every 2 hours, and sometimes more often. This requires a dashboard quit and game relaunch to repair. The only work-around is that you can save anywhere at almost anytime. So, SAVE OFTEN! Aside from that, the spell list for Enchanted Items should have been placed above the standard spell list. I would've liked a new game+ option with the ability to acquire all 3 great house strongholds over the course of multiple playthroughs. As I mentioned earlier, the end of the main campaign feels very anticlimactic to me, and to a lesser degree, so does the end of expansion 1: Tribunal.

This game isn't perfect, but it's pretty close. If you like action-RPGs with a focus on exploration, then this game is for you. :)

Das Ende war leider unterirdisch. Sonst vermutlich der Teil mit dem ausgefeiltesten Worldbuilding. Allein die Wiki Einträge zu Vivec und Dagoth Ur zeigen, wie viel Mühe sich mit der Ausarbeitung der Charaktere gegeben wurde! Grandios!

Leider gibt es gefühlt nur 1 Song im Soundtrack, daher nur 1 Stern, weil das mit der Zeit echt genervt hat. Visuals halten dem Zahn der Zeit stand. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist das UI/UX.

Gameplay bietet enorm viel Tiefe ohne zu überfordern. Hat man mal das Accuracy System verstanden, trifft man auch die Gegner vernünftig. Sehr inspirierend!

Loved the game back in the days. The editor that allows modding is nice.

Aside from the weird bugs at the end and some jank this game holds a special place in my heart and I enjoyed replaying it in 2022 after many years <3 Godd Howard
