Un remake clamoroso del titolo star ocean second story del 1998, da cima a fondo. La storia per quanto semplice offre comunque un esperienza degna di nota, con un sistema di progressione totalmente incentrato sulla creazione e sviluppo di equipaggiamenti e build, e con un combat system semplice alla base ma che si evolve costantemente. La grafica, ovviamente il punto principale del remake, è in stile HD-2D, con sprite omnidirezionali e colori accessi che si mescolano fra di loro come in un quadro, tutto quel in un mondo fantasy sci-fi che nonostante l'età, del 1998, si distingue tra i titoli usciti nel 2023. A mani basse Star ocean second story R condivide il titolo di "miglior jrpg del 2023", assieme a octopath traveler 2, riproponendo un classico videoludico in chiave totalmente moderna.

Beautiful JRPG. I didn't get the chance to play the original so I had to play the remake. I enjoyed the different characters, the story, and the adventure. Combat was fun as well.

Finished a playthrough with Claude and I def enjoyed the game a lot. Really loved the gameplay, characters and story. Still need to play the game through Rena's perspective too, but can already say this is one of the better games I've lately played.

Awesome remake and a gold standard to how it's done. Visuals improved, very smooth on PC/PS5 and fast loads. Switch is limited to 30FPS but still charming. Load times could be better but overall a great port.

Fun action combat system and an interesting world to explore. It was hyped to me as one of the best sci-fi JRPGs out there. I can kinda see that, kinda don't. The story features one of the best and most well-executed twists I've seen in video games, but other than that, I didn't really connect with the characters, and therefore, neither with the rest of the story. Still it was a fun game and on the shorter side for a JRPG, which is a plus for me!⚔️🔫

[JUGADO FUERA DE DIRECTO] Tenía muchas ganas de jugar este juego, y te lo opiniones mixtas. No me he jugado muchos Star Ocean, mayormente porque son juegos con mucho texto y no están en español casi ninguno, así que tener que estar traduciendo me da mucha pereza, pero si me he jugado el Star Ocean: The Last Hope así que sabía más o menos en lo que me estaba metiendo. El combate es un combate en tiempo real, como los de la saga Tales Of. Este se basa es ir atacando y esquivando mediante fintas, ayudando a evitar daño y ponerte en una posición segura para seguir atacando. El combate es muy entretenido, aunque parezca fácil al inicio, en batallas de jefes y mini jefes se puede complicar bastante, por lo que también entra mucha estrategia dentro del combate .Cada personaje es muy diferente entre ellos y dependiendo de tu estilo de combate uno te puede gustar más, y otro menos, y de 12 personajes que hay puedes llevar 8, así que seguro que tienes un favorito. El único pero que le pondría al combate es que no puedes cambiar tus habilidades en mitad del combate, por lo que si llevas una tecnica de fuego y justamente un rival tiene resistencia a fuego... GG Mi grupo de combate era: Opera (yo), Claude, Reina y Precis. Con Céline, Welch, Días y Ernest en la retaguardia, jugado el juego desde la perspectiva de Rena. Y hablando de la historia, es... Rara. En la historia hay "Plot Twist" que solo funcionan si juegas sin pensar, ya que el juego se apoya mucho en que los personajes no se pregunten NUNCA nada, "¿Porque Rena tiene orejas puntiagudas?" Ni idea "¿Porque Claude dice tantas cosas raras sobre el espacio, planetas y naves" me ha dicho que no le haga caso, así que no se lo hago y no me pregunté nada. También con el personaje de Nall hace cosas que resultan correctas simplemente porque "me da a mí que esto va a funcionar" sin ninguna razón aparente??? Mi parte favorita del juego es la parte artística, el Sprite art es precioso, la combinación de fondos 3D y los Sprites en 2D combinan muy bien y no se hace nada extraño. Y el portrait art de los personajes también es precioso, una gran mejoría al de las entregas anteriores. Me encantan las habilidades CO en este juego, más que facilitar el juego te ayudan a ahorrar tiempo, te ayuda a levelear rápido, a farmear rápido, etc. No me he jugado el original, pero en este está muy bien implementado, y no rompe el juego como puede parecer. En resumen: el combate y el apartado artístico está genial, pero la forma en la que se cuenta la historia funciona por el único hecho de que nadie se pregunta nada y todo pasa por casualidades. Un buen juego, pero no es el epítome de los JRPG.

Star Ocean The second Story R ist mein erstes Star Ocean. Dieses Game ist visuell und musikalisch wirlich große Klasse. Ich habe bisher ungefähr bei beiden Charaktere ungefähr 10h jeweils reingespielt. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass man mit Claude mehr Story hat bzw. mir etwas mehr zu sagt. Das Kampfsystem wirkt auf mich noch etwas simple, dafür sind andere Dinge sehr komplex. Ich fühle mich leicht überfordert mit den HW/Spezializierungen. Ich bin aufjedenfall sehr Happy, es mal gespielt zu haben

Gemdrops und Square Enix ist es sichtlich wichtig, ein wenig Nostalgie zu bewahren, während sie gleichzeitig auf eine technisch und ästhetisch modernisierte Version des Spiels abzielen. Diese Kombinationen ist ihnen zwar gelungen, jedoch birgt diese Nostalgie die Gefahr, dass man heute einige monotone Spielbläufe nicht mehr so lange aushält wie früher. Das hat sich bei Star Ocean: The Second Story R in der Erkundung niedergeschlagen. Trotzdem hatte ich insgesamt sehr viel Spaß mit dem Spiel, denn die Geschichte (bis auf die Auflösung selbst) und das ungewöhnliche Kampfsystem können Motivation und Spannung durchgehend halten. Besonders hilfreich erscheinen dafür die Spezialisierungen, welche stetig neue Impulse und kreative Ideen bieten. Das 2.5D-Design und die neuen Zeichnungen der Figuren werten das Spiel augenfällig auf. Sowohl die Möglichkeit, 99 verschiedene Varianten für ein Ende mit den 13 Figuren zu erhalten, als auch die zahlreichen Unterstützungs-Charaktere aus anderen Teilen des Franchise, sorgen für einen hohen Wiederspielwert.

Die Neuauflage des JRPGs überzeugt dank technischer Überarbeitung, ungewohntem Kampfsystem und dramatischer Geschichte bis zum Schluss. Das Kampfsystem wirkt erfrischend, doch einige Elemente der Welterkundung veraltet. Zahlreiche Figuren und Enden sorgen für einen hohen Wiederspielwert.
