Loved the style, the lore and everything else

From the opening frame, South of Midnight feels like stepping into a living folktale—brushstrokes breathing, stop-motion sinew flexing under a humid Southern sky. It’s an action adventure sure, but what elevates it is the artistry and the heart stitched through every scene. The graphic art design is a revelation: painterly character models, striking animation rhythms, and a world that looks hand-touched rather than factory-pressed. The soundtrack doesn’t just set the mood; it speaks, a chorus of story threads that swell, ache, and lift right when Hazel’s journey asks your heart to lean in. I love that it refuses the easy path of “big bad vs. chosen one.” There’s no neat villain, no coin-flip morality just the messy, beautiful work of mending what’s been broken. As Hazel, learning to weave that ancient power never feels like a gimmick; it’s part ritual, part mercy, part mirror. The tale unfolds with patience never rushed, never muddy. Letting the Deep South mythos unfurl into something rich and rare in games: Southern gothic folklore rendered with respect and imagination. Chapter by chapter, healing becomes the combat, and empathy becomes the weapon; the set pieces hype you up, then land soft where it matters most. I fell for these characters especially Hazel and for a world that dares to be different, not because it’s fashionable, but because it means something. Everything about this game is great on its own, but it’s everything around it—the art, the music, the steady hand on tone, that makes it unforgettable. This one climbs high on my favorites list.

أول ما تشغل اللعبة بتشوف عالم جميل: رسومات وأسلوب بصري مميز، وتصميم مناطق وأجواء إبداعي، والموسيقى لها طابع خاص وكلماتها تشرح الحدث اللي يصير. من ناحية الأجواء، اللعبة فنانة

القصة جيدة وفيها رسالة حلوة وقصص جانبية جميلة، والتمثيل الصوتي رهيب، والشخصيات مكتوبة بشكل جيد، رغم إن بناء بعضهم ضعيف وما يعطيك إحساس بأهميتهم، وفيه لحظات تمر ما تأثر عليك

أما القتال فهو أكثر شيء ممل: نفس الحركات طول الوقت، وخمس أعداء يتكررون عليك إلى نهاية اللعبة حتى فيه زعيم مهم ما راح تقاتله بيرمون عليك الخمسة ذولا للمرة المليون. فوق هذا، التحكم ما كان أفضل شيء والتحديد على الأعداء مزعج ويخرب عليك كثير

اللعبة خطية وتمشي على روتين ثابت: بلاتفورم، لغز بسيط، قتال، مشهد... وتتكرر نفس الدورة طول الوقت. هالشيء ما هو سلبي وبالبدايات مقبول لكن بما إن البلاتفورم ما فيه تنويع ولا صعوبة والألغاز تافهة والقتال سيء صار الروتين ممل مع الوقت يمكن لو كانت أقصر ما حسيت بهالشعور. لكن بالنهاية يشفع لها الأجواء والقصة وطريقة سردها

Was a bit let down after excitement over the story, by the gameplay

Solid game, just wished the final boss was well.... an actual boss fight instead of fighting the same enemies you battled through out the story and that ending man

Tinha saudades de um jogo que verdadeiramente me agarrasse do início ao fim, e South of Midnight para mim é o segundo melhor jogo do ano, apesar de ser bastante mal reconhecido... Tem um charme próprio, uma gameplay bem fluída, uma história que, a meu ver, é bastante inovadora e com magia, e as músicas também são bastante criativas lembrando bastante as músicas do Figment.

É só pena que eu tenha que reclamar que o desempenho e a tradução sejam duvidosos.
