Got all 130 emblems, all 60 missions. Unlocking all the game gear games is a really cool feature that makes this version of Adventure 1 superior to both dreamcast and the 2011 HD ports. The story is really fun. The gameplay is fun to learn and get better at. Every character is fun to move around as, including Big, surprisingly. However there are four caveats. Caveat 1: Big Emblems. Fishing sucks in this game. It doesn't feel responsive or intuitive. Catching Froggy by himself is easy enough, however to get all 130 Emblems, you have to catch a 1000+ and 2000+ gram fish and then froggy. And the problem is you never know if a fish will be big enough. It could look so but then only be 1900g. Then trying to catch these is like pulling teeth. Caveat 2: The Chao Garden. While it's absolutely a fine game mode and I do love it. Gating emblems behind this mode sucks, since the whole mode is designed to be a slow gradual process where you take it easy. You can easily blow through everything in the game in one day except for these 5 emblems. Caveat 3 & 4: Mission 53 & Mission 54. Both of these missions depend on navigating through Ice Cap's sledding sections. The first requires hitting frame specific super jumps on the ramps at the end of the stage. And the second requires navigating through 13 flags at the end of the stage. And it takes about 2 minutes to get back through the stage and attempt again, and if you fail, you have to go all the way back. The snowboarding mechanics are not good, and there are minutes of downtime before the part you actually need to try at. Making these very tedious. At least fishing and chao garden and 100% engaging and don't require you to wait minutes between attempts. If it weren't for these issues the game would be a perfect time to replay.

Genuinely I ended up loving so many aspects of this game and more! Despite thing being the glitchy version of the game, the gameplay was super solid. Character wirting and expression was great. and I never had a bad moment was just generally so nice to play. On top of chao garden just being as expansive as it is. Just love the characters and how their playstyles were so different and fitting for them compared to at later games. Amy & Gamma are defaultly the higlights for character envestments and Big the cat was fun and goofy but all were so good. I'd love to play this again or invest in this chao garden. WHICH has different animals. love the spread of animals in this game. deer, cute birds, mole and more. Just love this one and how both SA1 and SA2 feel different and have their own merits. I love Sonic :) <3
