Despite earlier rumors of a downgraded port due to the PlayStation 2's hardware limitations, this port of Resident Evil 4 have been generally favorable. Almost all the GameCube's real-time cut scenes were converted into movie files in order to maintain a better quality. Furthermore, voices and sound effects quality outside the cut-scenes had been reduced due to disc space being quickly used and audio RAM constraints. Capcom added new content made specifically for this port to compensate for the late release, such as minigames, documentaries and costumes.

The fourth installment feels like a completely new game in every aspect. It’s no longer a traditional survival horror with fixed camera angles. The gameplay is much more action-oriented - fast, dynamic, and intense. The level design is more linear, with fewer branching paths, and the puzzles are very simple. However, this game introduced a highly addictive new action mechanic that became the standard for action-survival games.
It marks the beginning of a new era for the Resident Evil series, and it’s a very strong start.
The SourceNext PC port, which I played first, was terrible, with broken graphics and controls. The newer HD port released in 2014 is much better. I played that version without HD texture packs and enjoyed it a lot.

Отличный сервайвол шутер 2005 года, который даже в 2025 играется достаточно бодрым. Да, некоторые геймплейные моменты и механики все-таки немного устарели, но в целом все отлично. И да, Леон ЛЕГЕНДА!
