Rain World is a survival platformer set in an abandoned industrial environment ravaged by a shattered ecosystem. Bone-crushingly intense rains pound the surface, making life as we know it almost impossible. The creatures in this world hibernate most of the time, but in the few brief dry periods they go out in search of food.

I found this game by accident, and I turned out loving it very much. It feels like playing a nature documentary. When you first dive in, the whole thing is about learning how to get around, poking at the world, and trying to figure out how to grab food without instantly getting eaten. The food chain is pure chaos, and half the time it feels like youβre just one wrong move away from disaster. Youβll die a lot, and honestly that becomes part of the experience, because every mistake teaches you something new. Thereβs plenty of backtracking as you piece things together, some slower platforming stretches where you really have to focus, and tons of sneaky hidden bits waiting if youβre curious enough to look for them. The real star of the show though is the AI, which is so ridiculously clever and unpredictable that it makes the world feel alive, like every creature has its own personality and goals instead of just being there for you to beat.
Recommended to play with a friend so much fun!
Despite my personal dislike of platformers and side-scrollers, I absolutely love this game! I'll admit, at first I was hesitant and only really played it due to a friend being so kind and gifting me the game. I am SO glad that he did, because I fell in love quickly!
Game play somehow manages to be simple and complex at the same time. Well, maybe not "complex" but it can be tricky, and there's some pretty cool move techs you can learn and do overtime. I've finally started to pick up on them over time and it makes things a lot more fun!
The world, and especially the storyline, is incredibly interesting. The setting had me very confused at first, however as I progressed onward the lore became clearer- and with each campaign I began to fall deeper and deeper into the overarching storyline. It is beyond impressive to me just how intricate and detailed the story ultimately is in comparison to how it seemed upon completion of the Survivor campaign, and it's absolutely the story that kept me wanting to play more and more.
Graphics are pretty good! I'm not big on more pixelated graphics, so at first I didn't like it. It's grown on me throughout my play however! I highly recommend downloading the Sharpener mod from Steam Workshop if you can. It just improves the graphics slightly and makes things just a little better!
Sound design and music are very well made. Absolutely love the ambience and music, each track really captures the theme of it's area really well.
Overall amazing game! Even if you dislike platformers/side-scrollers I highly recommend giving this a go. You may be surprised, I know I sure was.
