Ori and the Blind Forest works its narrative charm of storytelling in a platforming puzzle metroidvania adventure that Microsoft reaps its rewards for fully committing into a project from start to finish.

The Ori series is a perfect example of a video game doing show don't tell. This game can be hard at times even on easy, but it is very fun.

I continue my journey with metroidvanias with Ori and the Blind Forest. You explore a giant map constantly unlocking new abilities for your character, to reach parts of the map you couldn't reach without that ability.
The gameplay is amazing, it's mostly focused on difficult platforming with some combat and that just keeps getting better as you progress and unlock new abilities. This is a great example of good difficulty, you can actually feel yourself getting better at the game. The platforming evolves so much that by the end I wanted to backtrack and explore as much as possible just to make use of how good I have become at the platforming thanks to the many abilities I unlocked. And even then the final section was still challenging enough. I just really loved the platforming, the combat doesn't evolve as much but it's still pretty good, the boss battles are meh nothing to write home about but this isn't really a soulsvania like Blasphemous.
The story is really emotional, it's more than I expected from this game, the art style is so good, I absolutely loved every biome and how varied it was, even exploring later I wanted to do it just to fully see what this world has to offer. The music is absolutely amazing, I'm still humming the main theme, it's called Light of Nibel if anyone is wondering.
There is only one issue with the framerate, you'll have to add dx11 to the launch options on Steam to make it work smoothly, also one small section (Ice section) I didn't like had a confusing mechanic that the developer forgot to explain but they literally uploaded a video of that section on YouTube.
TL;DR: If you like challenging platforming, emotional stories, amazing art style this game is a must play!
The movement and abilities in this game feel amazing, it’s honestly such a joy to run, jump, and glide around everywhere. the visuals and soundtrack are stunning, everything feels alive and magical. And the way the game builds its world is incredible, every area has its own "personality", the characters are memorable, and the moments of challenge and reward hit just right.
