SCORE: 4.75 / 5
Story:
Little Misfortune is a dark, narrative-driven adventure about an imaginative 8-year-old girl named Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez. Guided by a mysterious voice she calls "Mr. Voice", she embarks on a quest to win eternal happiness for her mother. Along the way, she explores peculiar and unsettling environments, meets strange characters (including an elusive fox), and faces moral choices that shape her journey. The game mixes whimsical innocence with dark themes, and its beauty lies more in its storytelling and atmosphere than in traditional gameplay.
Visuals: 5/5
I really liked the artstyle in this game, especially as it's such a small team!
Audio: 4/5
The voice acting caught me off guard. In the game we follow Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, her mother is of Hispanic descent and lives in Sweden with Misfortune's father. Listening to the voice acting of Misfortune it doesn't give off as neither hispanic accent or swedish accent. Most of my community actually thought the main character was of slavic descent! Besides that I enjoyed the soundtrack and the voice acting of Mr. Voice.
Gameplay: 5/5
This game plays as an interactive story adventure rather than a traditional puzzle or action game. You control Misfortune as she interacts with objects and characters along the way. The gameplay mainly consists of simple point-and-click exploration, dialogue choices, and small mini-events that reflect her curious personality.
Your choices influence the tone and outcome of the story, though the game's focus is more on narrative experience and emotional storytelling than on skills or complex mechanics. It's designed to feel like you're guiding Misfortune through a dark fairy-tale world, while observing her innocence in contrast with the strange and sometimes unsettling world around her.
Knowing how the game is meant to go with the events, choices and exploration it gave me everything that it was said it would!
Difficulty:
This game is very easy to play, there's no difficulty option in this one. The most difficult part of the game is which choice you should make.
Grind:
No grind as you can finish this game in the span of 3 hours. I finished it a little under 3 hours, and that was after trying to find and read everything.
Bugs:
I didn't encounter any bugs during my playthrough.
Replayability:
There are 2 endings in this game, and always 2 different choices to everything. So personally I believe the most normal is to replay this game once.
Platinum:
This game has 15 trophies, and they all seem very easy to get. I am thinking of replaying the game on PlayStation to get the platinum π
This game is low key iconic
