Man this game was a surprise how fun it was to go back to. I have not touched this game since I beat it when it 1st came out. No Party members, just Lightning for 95% of the game but with dresssperes [Not what there called here] and 13's classic battle system made it very fun and differnt the 13 and 13-2. Got stong Majoria's Mask vibes with the story and the ever ticking clock coming down. A day in this game and be as short as 3 or 4 hours but most days for me made it about the 8 hour mark so it takes a bit to get though all 13 days. My only real issue was the final boss. For me doing every side quest which quests are how you level up I should of not had such a hard time at the end. Everything else was chill. Loved it. Strongly recommend if you have played the other 2.

Can't go wrong with playing this game again! The idea of one character with multiple classes was a step in the right direction, but it's sad we miss out on team ups with characters. Storyline appeals to me as it's like Majora's Mask with a day countdown till the end, don't be worried as you can manipulate chronostasis to make a day last forever. Lightning deserves her own game and this felt like a good game to give her that role, as we see the aftermath of FF13-2, which is another reason to play the whole series.

I can honestly say out of all of the Final Fantasy games I've played, this is my least favorite. Square Enix has always told a great story for Final Fantasy games but this one...I just didn't like. I really wish they would have just stopped after the first 13. Besides the story I did not like the combat one bit and I didn't like that there was no leveling system besides upgrading your spells and gear. The clothing system reminded me of FF X-2 which I wasn't that big on. At this point I'm just glad I'm finally done with all of the 13s.

I... was shocked. I played 13 all the way to the final boss and couldn't defeat it. I tried several times and realized I was underlevelled. That killed me and I dropped it there. I watched many trailers for 13-2 and found it interesting. One day I bought both that and LR:FF13... I decided, after a friend suggested so, to try out "13-3" first... and I couldn't put it down. I was truly shocked. For such an average, boring game like 13 to bloom into something as nice as Lightning Returns was truly something that left me speechless. Sure, 13 is not the worst game ever, neither is 13-3 the best. Yet, by the time Lightning Returns rolled out, it's clear the ones behind it realized how absurd the story was, its weaknesses and also figured out the other games' flaws. If you were to look at LR on its own, without knowing the story before, you'd hate its guts. But after experiencing what happened before? It's clear LR takes all that happened and goes full immersion into the absurdity of everything in a way that ties things up well and perfectly. This is the ultimate closure for the saga. They couldn't have done better. Gameplay wise? I found it very strategic and interesting. I was one trophy away from having everything on my 360 and I remember shoving over 100 hours into this to replay it after completing it once so to manage to do EVERY sub quest in a single playthrough. I also love how NG works, allowing you to go for an early ending, or even skipping the final, just to restart stronger than before and able to tackle everything with ease. I'll definitely make sure to get every damn achievement on Steam. I recommend this if one at least takes the time to learn the story of 13 and 13-2.
