One of my favorites survival-craft game. Best experienced with friends!

Very buggy

Dropped due to lost friendship, also kinda stuck in my area between snow wolves and bears, really hard alone.

Icarus is a hoot of a game. I've recently picked it up after my friends and I needed a new game to sink hours into besides Valorant. We've been playing this game a crapton and now I feel like I'm ready to make a little review. Overall the game is your basic RPG world-builder. Level up, get new items to build, mine resources, repeat. What makes the game so enjoyable is the variety and depth of the progression system as well as the crafting. When you first start out you don't have a lot of anything really. You will get aggravated at the tedium of having to mine, repair, and build everything. You'll get frustrated at how the game makes you craft an entire freaking bench just to make tier 3 items. However, it's the struggle at the beginning that makes the game so rewarding. It's quite literally a skill issue. Once you level up more, you get the hang of things, you realize the tedium isn't so bad, especially when you play with friends. We've built an entire compound of buildings, shared resources, and are only just getting into "Level 3" items and builds. The game takes a lot of work, but the work certainly pays off and every level up is a treat when you have to decide what blueprints to purchase with your limited points, or what skills to invest in out of the games 12 different skill trees. The only issues I have with the game are it's lack of real story or direction (granted we're playing as a group in a shared server) as well as the games overall decent graphics, but the game runs terribly in general. Constant jank makes characters fall through the world, or bosses phase in and out of terrain or shoot way into the air all of a sudden. As you get better the jank becomes part of the fun, like Skyrim, but overall I wish the game was better optimized. I'm giving this a 3.5 out of 5, mostly carried by the fantastically crafted RPG elements, but the look of the game could use a way better coat of paint.

So you like PvE survival games? Dope! Now how about getting to build your base over and over and over and over and over and over again all from scratch each and every time you start a new mission? Probably not.

Honestly, the game is alright. The environments look cool, but are very empty feeling and repetitive. There was fishing added as well as mount stuff. The crafting is very basic, but there is some fun stuff there as well, lots of decoration items as well. The enemies are just regular animals, but bears are b*tches, it would have been more interesting though if the enemies in the maps were something more interesting and more alien, since the planet is not Earth.

I had a decent fun with the game, but it got very repetitive and boring quite fast. I am not a huge fan of survival crafting games, so I am not the best to get opinion on these games, but take it as you will. I think the idea is good, but the execution is not. They do update the game weekly (as far as I've seen), so that's something. I think they are pretty good at listening to feedback and are taking the opinions of the playerbase into consideration.

I also had to complete the game twice, once before the achievements were added and second time after the achievements were added. They did not really make the game more fun, BUT I guess there was something more to work towards.

In the end though, I wouldn't really recommend you to get the game, even if you enjoy these types of games. It's just boring, plain and simple.
