Harvestella is kind of a mixed bag, but it has a lot of heart! The game has a surprisingly good story with fun characters and excellent world-building. The side quest stories are also way better than they have any right to beβ€”a couple of them even made me emotional. The music is phenomenal and really elevates the cut scenes! I played this on the OG Switch, and it runs and looks stunning. The environments and towns are varied and beautiful. Where I have a problem with the game is in its gameplay. It's been a while since I played it, so I might get some of the details wrong. The game's action combat system isn't the deepest, most polished, or best-feeling to play, but it’s nonetheless fun. In the latter half of the game, when it starts to feel repetitive, the story keeps you going. Like the combat system, the dungeon level design starts out fun with a few clever mechanics, but toward the end, the dungeons begin to feel like a chore and start repeating the same gameplay ideas. But again, you push through because you want to see where the story goes. One big factor that hinders your enjoyment of the dungeons and exploring them is the length of the day. Each day lasts 20 minutes, and if you try to go longer, you’re forced to return home to sleep. This makes you want to mainline the dungeons just to reach the next checkpoint where you can respawn the following day. And exploring dungeons isn't the only thing you need to do during the day. You also have to take care of your farm: planting, harvesting, watering crops, caring for animals, and running to town to buy seeds. All this adds up, and sometimes it feels hard to make meaningful progress during the day. The farming part of the game is like any other basic farming game out thereβ€”which isn't a bad thing, since that formula has proven to be fun. Where the game fails for me is in how the farming ties into the combat. I feel there's a lot of wasted potential here. From the crops you harvest, you can make food and drinks to heal or buff yourself in battle. But you can only eat a limited amount of food before your character becomes full, while drinks can be consumed without restriction. This ends up making you rely solely on drinks for healing, which makes all the foods you can cook meaningless hence making farming anything else than the juice ingredients meaningless too I hope they develop a sequel, because there's so much potential in this system if given more thought. One positive thing I will say about the farming is the in-game economy: it’s tough to earn money, which makes progress feel rewarding. Harvestella has a lot of flaws, but I think the good outweighs the bad here. The story got me hooked and the first 20 hours flew by me making me want to push trough the game even if I found the last hours to be bit tedious. I would reccomend this to any rpg or farming game fans who want to experience a good story!πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ

As usual Square Enix manages to release a solid title. Sadly the story for this one didn't grip me quite as strongly as some of their other series have in the past. If you're looking for a Square Enix farming simulator with a banger soundtrack and a little bit of combat thrown in this might be the game for you.

I just beat Harvestella last night and I LOVED it! I have yet to be disappointed with a JRPG from Square Enix and this was no exception. If you're looking for a solid JRPG with a good story, I highly recommend it. The only reason I couldn't give this game 5 stars is because the farming sim aspect of the game was pretty lacking. I was hoping for more from it. Farming helps support you with food/drinks to heal with and it earns you money to get upgrades but overall you don't have to farm much in the game if you don't want to.

The most beautiful storyline I've ever encountered in a farming simulator. Fun combat system, Cute animals, even cuter marriage/battle companions.

Um dos melhores jogos que joguei esse ano, misturando jogo de fazendinha com um RPG usando jobs, o principal problema desse jogo foi o preço q foi lançado.

Interesting RPG/farmsim cross, and I look forward to seeing other games similarly incorporating farmsim elements. I generally found the gameplay to be solid, but repetitive towards the end. Especially grinding out the final achievements for all jobs, the "secret" final boss, and some of the final faerie orders. The story was decent, but either the writing or localization of dialogue was pretty weak. Overall would recommend a playthrough if you enjoy Final Fantasy-style stories and RPGs, but avoid achievement hunting this one.
