The sixth entry in the Final Fantasy series was dubbed Final Fantasy III in the West because three out of the five previous installments of the series had not been released there at the time. Similarly to its predecessors, this is a role-playing game where the player controls a party of characters, travelling between various locales in the world, fighting randomly appearing regular enemies and bosses, and making the characters stronger by improving their skills and getting better equipment for them. The game maintains the ATB (active time battle) system of the two previous installments in the series, spicing traditional turn-based combat engine with a real-time element.

With a cinematic start sequence on a steampunk-ish and magipunk-ish world, FF6 (which is its true name) instantly draws you into a beautifully written story that breathes power, politics, madness and a mystery from another world. The cast of characters is profound and each of them have a very distinct story and an unique style of gameplay as well. Having basically total freedom with the magic and customization of characters is also a great touch and was very ahead of its time. It certainly was ground breaking, too, to be able to play not only with so many different characters together but also on separate groups for some specific parts of the story. Kefka is such an interesting character and a intriguing villain. And he and his backstory both fit specially well into that world. The player is able to feel his insanity and is given perspective so you feel the wrath of the damned who had their lives destroyed by him or the empire. Truly a masterpiece and a piece of art. Soundtrack and graphics are amazing, of course considering the time it was released. Gameplay doesn't even feel like it's a turn battle with so many creative mechanics and different things that happen during the fight, sometimes even cutscenes. It can be funny, sad, deep, and overall emotional and very believable. All the locations feel like real places, even the simplest ones. Also there is a moving castle.

My favorite in the Final Fantasy series. Amazing storytelling and characters, fun mechanics, lots of optional side quests, beautiful soundtrack.

This is the best Final Fantasy game they've ever made. Nothing comes close. No I'm not joking. Nothing comes close. This game has inspired me multiple times in my own creative adventure. I adore it and everything it is. This game should've gotten a remake on the level of FF7.

This game was vastly different than ff2 and it seemed alot grinder with leveling up all the jobs! I was completely flabbergasted by the final boss who one shot my team on multiple occasions. Square Enix is not playing around when it comes to their boss fights. I still very much enjoyed the game and was in complete shock when the final blow hit the final boss and I watched it disintegrate. Amazing game!

each next ff felt like a better game than previous one, even if they were still pretty similar, and what you'd expect from a jrpg by standards of today, I like it more than 2, and that's despite pretty unusual job changing mechanic this was going for
