I LOVED Dishonored. I was skeptical going into it, because I remember when I tried one of the Dishonored games when I was a teenager and I just didn't connect with it. This experience was incredibly different from that. I'm unsure whether it was because I've been craving a stealth game for a while now, or if it was due to how immersive the experience felt. I wanted stealth and stealth I got! The level design in this game is a masterclass in creating open levels that reward strategy and thinking outside of the box. I'm sure speed runners of this game are in a class of their own but the game highly encourages players to question their approach. From the beginning of the game I knew of the low and high chaos impacting the story's ending and I wanted the additional limitation on how to play the game. By putting myself in that position, I created a boundary for my creative thinking, and I found that to make the game much more challenging and effective at pushing me to act certain ways than it would have if I didn't care about the lethality. I also enjoyed the ability to take both a high ground and low ground approach. The levels really gave players a ton of space for ability exploration, and player expression. This created a deep feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction within my experience. I think that, along with the impact on the narrative depending on all of the different actions we can choose to do or not do, and we start to feel a level of immersion I haven't quite experienced in another game. There was one particular moment that made me love this game though, and it was a very simple one. I fell in front of a window while exploring around a building and Lydia from the hound pits pub saw me and talked to me about it. The fact that they considered that approach and scripted a possible interaction for it really blew my mind. It's hard not to love the meticulous attention to detail put into this game's interactions. In addition loving the gameplay, I also found its visuals to be timeless. With that in mind, though, the overarching story of the game itself felt a little lackluster. It's quite simple and predictable. This doesn't make the overall experience bad because I find the gameplay and interaction with the NPCs to be what adds depth to the experience, but the overall narrative could've been more interesting or detailed. If we include the lore and documents we find scattered about, the game's story becomes much more loaded and fascinating. Since that's not what the focus of the current story was though, I think 3 stars is fitting. I also wish that the endings were longer. It would've been nice to see more detail in what the world became post finale level. Finally, the soundtrack wasn't something I paid much attention to. I think it did a great job not taking anything away from the scenes and creating the ambience needed for a game like this. Despite that, I usually rate soundtracks based on whether I feel they truly elevate a moment or a scene and made it pay attention more to the music. None of the tracks stood out to me in that way, but there were some moment where they elevated the sensation experienced by the scene.

I started thinking no kills on EZ. Didn't last long but going to go through the story and hope to just get the good ending. I love the world so far.

I haven't played the game since 2019 and now have had the great opportunity to play it for my twitch channel. I'm looking forward to playing further than chapter 5 to the end. I'm going to be playing this on easy with no kills and going for the good ending. Make it a bit challenging.
