Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening is a prequel to the first Devil May Cry. The game plays very differently from its predecessors, as it puts much more emphasis on style rather than simple demon slaying. As such, combat is much more intense and faster than before. An all-new Style system that allows you to select your fighting style has also been incorporated.

I played this on Steam. I'm not sure if it has any advantages over the PS2 version, but I can't imagine they're terribly different. This distinction may have affected my analysis. The Steam controls leave a little something to be desired, so I hope they have been improved since I played this. I had fun, but I expected a little more from the story. I think it does a good job of presenting the narrative with little dialogue, although I would have liked more development between Dante and Lady. I won't say their development was poor, only minimal in a disappointing way. This game succeeds in appealing to rebellious attitudes and gothic aesthetics that teenagers in the early 2000s were expected to like. There are a good variety of weapons to play around with, and I especially enjoyed the nunchuks. Cerberus and the vampire lady were a little bothersome to learn, but I wouldn't say this game is excessively difficult. I didn't feel overwhelmed or annoyed, even with the platforming. The room with the black boxes was a little odd, but primarily because I was not able to adjust the camera on my own. For the most part, I found the camera angles to give the player everything they needed, and the levels were never so long that they felt tedious. It would have been nice to be able to get more blood to prevent the need to stockpile items by repeating old levels, but at least that option was available. Fun game overall, and certainly emblematic of its time.

I've read before that this game is one of the hardest games to beat on the ps2?!??? Devil May Cry has always screamed EDGELORD! But when you're a kid going through the Hottopic emo phase and you stumble across DMC its a love child lmao. It's got a pretty great sound track as you hack and slash your way through waves of enemies with a combo system for points. You get a bunch of neat weapons to choose from and a upgrade system for each. The fight with Virgil on top the spire was probably the most challenging fight I had in this game but once you figure him out he's a pushover. All in all it was a fun playthrough might have to revisit sometime

Um dos melhores jogos de Ps2 já feitos, tem personagens muito carismáticos, tanto os protagonistas, quanto os inimigos. A gameplay é deliciosa, finalmente um hack and slash em que você consegue combar de verdade.

First game I played in the series and just loved the story. It was witty and serious that had a cool way of just racking up ways to combo a kill. The villains were wicked and fun to fight. The mechanics of how to switch up your play style was cool and to play Virgil a bit was interesting to compare.

мой первый слэшер. стоило бы закончить, но я даже игру не закончила ихихих... в общем и целом, было довольно тяжело, сюжет хароший, катсцены с полуголыми мужчинами просто класс, очень понравилось! конечно, мне кажется, это был самый худший геймплей по ДМС 3, НО без чатерсов я бы дропнула уже на втором Верджиле...
